Do you mean Ike williams Vs Baue Jack, if so great call, i wonder if Willams ever forgave Jack for knocking his tooth out, seemed to take it very personal in an interview many years later.

I agree, it was both...if it weren't for Lacy's delusional, sadistic corner man, that fight should have been stopped by round 9 or 10 at least.

Well it should be mentioned that the Collins loss was due to Panama Lewis removing the padding from Resto's gloves. Even with that Resto could only manage a to win a hard fought decision. Collins' suicide was due to not being able to fight again because of the damage his face incurred. Both Resto and Lewis were permanently banned from boxing.

P.S. Franklin I know you know this, just added this for those who may not know the story line.

And Calzaghe appeared to enjoy his work a bit too much. It was a horribly cruel beating.

Lewis served for a short time as the trainer of pre-title Sultan Ibragimov.

I remember watching it in a pub and old white haired men were up on their feet punching the air ,baying, thirsty for blood...the crowd was on fire, Joe electrified them...his whole demeanour was like a thin handsome matador outslicking and thrashing a powerful bull that had killed the crowds relatives....there was murder in the air that night...a lust for violence,I got caught up in it too....like the pied piper calzaghe had led us,to the point where if lacey was beaten to sleep....at that moment we would have welcomed it...as terrible as it sounds now .it was a bit too much that fight needed to be stopped 3 rounds before,Gary Shaw in particular was disgraceful

Yea, its alot worst than getting knockout. Props to Margaritto for taking such a beating and not quiting. Reminds me of Chavez vs Camacho, Camacho took a beating and claimed in post fight interview he would go for more round if he had too.

Lacy actually took equally or even worst beating against past prime Jones than he did against Calzaghe. Lacy must have had brain damage after those fights alone.

Teddy Reid beating some guy named Valdez to the point of killing him. It was eerie on account of Reid acting oblivious to the damage he'd caused and Fox Sports playing repeats of the fight for probably six months on end as if there was nothing wrong with it.

Sonny Liston beating up Chuck Wepner was pretty bad. As well as the St. valentines day massacre.

Duran-Moore and Collins-Resto were on the same card.

One I haven't seen mentioned is Derrick Holmes vs. Wilfredo Gomez.

Holmes went down seven times in five rounds, once without being hit. He was booed as a coward.

After the fight, it was discovered that his jaw had a compound fracture (suffered in the second round) -- which means the bone was broken clean in two.

One of his teeth was also broken in half -- split down the middle.

Ring Magazine ran a photo of the X-ray which showed the break all the way from jaw through the tooth.

This link is to a story where the surgeon who reconstructed the jaw describes the injury, and what Kelly must have been going through -- each punch after the break would have sprayed loose tooth and bone chips into his mouth.

Absolutely brutal even to think about.
