Douglas demolished the two handed monster puncher iron chinned the most feared boxer ever at his peak, he would have toyed with small, one handed fighter , with chin not half as good as tyson's
The best Frazier wears Douglas down and knocks him out. Prime Frazier had a sustained attack and high work rate that would stop most grade B hwts such as Douglas. A lot has to do with fights distance of course. A short fight favors Fraziers opponents due to his slow start and simple numbers. In a 15 round fight Douglas has no chance. A ten round fight his odds improve dramatically.
That may be true but I don't know if we have any verification to prove that.. Frazier fought very few genuine punchers and one of them utterly destroyed him. Tyson's chin stood up to the artillery of men like Frank Bruno, Razor Ruddock, James Smith, etc.. Granted I know you don't think much of those guys but regardless they could crack.
Over long periods of sustained beatings and men who likely had more snap to their shots than Ali did. One of those also came after Tyson's incarceration and hence past prime..Not what I'd consider a good gauge.
Ali was hitting Frazier with full force in Manila, and couldn't budge him. There's really no good reason to rate Douglas and Holyfield as harder punches than Ali. Frazier, bless him, took tons of punishment from several fighters on Douglas's level.
Lol tyson walked through ruddock full leveraged smashes like nothing, frazier got bounced all over the ring against a similiar puncher... It's like comparing ali's chin with lewis's
Frazier was much more durable and tougher fighter than Tyson. Frazier could take a beating as he did against Ali in all three fights and still continue with his game plan, not get frustrated and come out victorious even though he was hurt, bleeding and swollen. Tyson became a different fighter in a truly tough fight when he was losing. Just looking at chin vs chin who knows? Tyson was never hit with the atomic blasts Foreman hit Joe with in 73.
Ruddock wasn't a similar puncher to Foreman. There's no evidence. Ruddock KO'd a few old has-beens, his whole career. I mean, seriously, Mike Dokes is his most impressive KO, and Dokes was an old cokehead who'd probably left his best in the ring wtith Holyfield the previous year. Ruddock was no Foreman. List the men who stopped Frazier and then list the men who stopped Tyson. Frazier was more durable.
Both Douglas and Holyfield were harder punchers than Ali, especially that 1975 version who was past it.. Douglas was hitting Tyson was right upper cuts that Ali didn't have in his aresenal. Evander was even punching rather than boxing at some points and again this was against a past it Tyson..
The fact is foreman looped his punches like an amateur vs frazier, he looked like a caveman... Ruddock is 240 rock solid like mercer , and has a great leverage on the smash, hits as hard if not harder than foreman.
Going into the Manila fight, Ali had KO'd Foreman and Lyle in the previous 12 months, and he hit Frazier with his best shots. Ali and Frazier in 1975, Holyfield and Tyson in 1996, they were all past it, so those comments are redundant. Buster Douglas was not a harder puncher than Ali. People like to imagine he was because he KO'd Tyson.
Oliver mccall who fought lewis and sparred hundred of rounds with tyson, said buster douglas is the hardest puncher. Did any fighter said that ali is the hardest puncher?
