Right now he'd be the man of the division but wouldn't be without solid competition. Holmes vs Povetkin would be interesting as would fights with some others.

I do miss a heavyweight like Larry, a guy with talent and top-level skills who had B*LLS. I have always maintained that Larry would be right up there with Liston and Foreman as guys you would want in a street fight. He was a bad mother.

    I think he'd do well!

There's a lot of green guys around that are still maturing (AJ, Parker) so I reckon he might well dispense a boxing lesson there. There's nothing about them that says they would be favoured over a prime Holmes. That said, AJ and Parker have a big punch so you never know, they might be able to win the lotto.

Wlad is really long in the tooth now. I reckon a prime Wlad gives him all sorts of problems, but this version is well within the scope of a prime Holmes to beat. Unless Wlad comes in on fire and ready to pull that trigger, Holmes' jab is going to be very problematic. Wlad's own jab has not been that crisp, hurtful jab he had in his prime.

Tyson Fury is a more interesting case because of his dimensions and mobility. If Tyson can keep all his marbles in the same bag, it would be interesting to see how Holmes compensates (if he can) for Fury's absurd wingspan. We would also get to see whether Fury's performance against Wlad was a flash in the pan or something he could do regularly.

Wilder ... Wilder gets a boxing lesson. Windmill technique vs Holmes? :D The step up in class for him would be like ice water on his nuts. He'd need about 5 warm ups before he even considered signing the contract.

Ironically I wonder if old warhorses like Takam and Povetkin wouldn't be a bigger threat to Holmes. They have a good workrate and some blistering combination punching. Povetkin has been extremely heavy handed of late. Whether that's due to special 'vitamins' or a late blooming is, I guess, a matter of speculation. But sooner or later they would engage up close and test that chin.

The division right now is pretty solid, but without any "top dogs" that one could say Holmes would really struggle to beat. However, I do think that he might struggle to go 48-0 today. As some have pointed out, there are a lot of big guys with big punches floating around.

True. Lots of young guys too.
I figure the top of the crop will move up to HW.

Povetkin is about Holmes's size, isn't he? So it's not that Larry would be too small to possibly succeed, but of course he would find it harder to dominate as much behind his jab when frequently facing opposition with big advantages in height and reach. He'd be in the mix for sure, but don't know if he'd unify and don't think he'd make 20 defenses.

    A pick ?

You want me to post a "pick" ?

Have you noticed that there is no posting of picks (or even pics) on this site ?

And will there be more 'consequences' if I don't ?

(I'm still waiting for the previous consequences. It's scary but exciting at the same time...)

    Most likely.

I can see Wlad and Povetkin giving him some issues, but I'd make him favourite over any of the current crop.

And I'm definitely not a Larry fan.

The current versions who are 37 and 40 years old ? I think a prime Holmes out boxes them pretty convincingly

Larry Holmes and that quality inside him that I see from no fighters around today, he had the ability to dig deep and pull something from nowhere. Not that he would really need that quality against today's opposition mind......

larry holmes and his team would not choose to fight in the hw division
today, he would be a cruiserweight, a guy who weighed 209 pounds in his prime in the ring is not a hw today( SPECIALLY WITH HIS STYLE), he would start at cruiser would rule de division and then would make a pay day winning a single hw title against a modest champion and then say good bye

You sound a bit gay, son.

First you want to see picks, and that you ask other posters for picks.

And now you tell us that... "i can **** you so much until you love it ?"

Not that there's anything wrong with that, lad.

Just the way you come across.

    Impertinent and gay.
