You think Hopkins style would translate well to the heavyweight division? You think his chin would hold up? To me those are clear and obvious no's. Hopkins would be walked through and ko'd if he ever took on a legitimate hw in my humble opinion

Not to the HW division, no, but certain fighters he could absolutely school.

Iggy for instance he would make look totally one dimensional.

Anyone can end a fight with a well placed punch but if you put Hopkins in a ring where he is the faster man, it's gonna be almost impossible to beat him.

    What constitutes decent?

Toney was a decent HW, Ruiz was a decent HW, Byrd was a decent HW.

None of those 3 would ktfo of Hopkins.

Right now this current era has seen Martin, Brezeale, Molina and Whyte all gain a top ten ranking. No way do any of those ktfo of Hopkins.

There's a very good chance Ruiz would have knocked him out.

Thought the same. That was a chance that this fight would happen but then WBC ordered Maskaev vs Peter and Hopkins wisely decided not to fight fat Sam

Hire Shilstone and he likely out points Ruiz

The only former MW champions who faced Ruiz both completely schooled him.

Hopkins would have been a snack for Peter.

Fair point. But I'd be surprised if the naturally slim Hopkins could take heavyweight punches and manhandling as successfully as Toney did. Also worth noting that Toney fought at cruiser and heavy for a full decade prior to the first Peter fight and, though no beauty, had long since become a legit big man.

There was nothing legit about it.

    He ate more food.

Hopkins could easily follow the Toney diet and come in at 230 plus he has a bigger frame to carry the weight if he so desired.

What's that got to do with the price of bacon???

That other fighter was likely the greatest athlete that ever stepped inside the ring.
