Yeah I know he lost when he was 12, after that he didn't lose again going into the pros.. I didn't really skim through the article or Q&A but did he specify something different?

Andre Ward stop dragging the chain . You either retire or arrange a rematch. You are holding up the division. The real fight
we all want to see in LHW is Artur Bertebiev fight for the title in 2017.

Yes, he lost two of those 5 when he was older than 12.

Two of the names are: John Revish (Feb 7, 1998 - Ward was 13; note some sources say 1997 but this is incorrect as Ward won his category in 1997), Jesus Gonzalez (September 1998, “Blue and Goldtournament in Baldwin Park, CA - Ward was 14).

Ward disputes the latter decision, hence his insistence on not acknowledging it.

So the last time he officially lost was when he was 14, not 12. Still a very impressive record of course (although as you know I think Kovalev beat him close).

So he last lost as a Teenager! That's still extremely impressive!

He also said in the same article: "You have to entertain (a rematch), and I would love to put my stats on in such a way that there isn't a conversation about who won an who lost," Ward says. "Proving something to people is a tricky thing to get involved in. If we did the rematch it would be more just to silence Kovalev and silence his team and to just put a stamp on the rivalry we had. It would be more of a personal thing to me. But the element of people and media having an opinion, that's never going to change. I accept that 100 percent. It would be more to put a stamp on that and send a message to his team that the first fight really happened and here we are, we did it again."

We can all cherry pick quotes...

Accomplished everything he wanted to? Yet he hasn't fought at HW like his TRAINER said he was going (And according to idiots on this board, if a trainer said it, the fighter said it.) Ward ducking all the CW's and HW's....shame!!! (That's sarcasm BTW idiots)

And both of these quotes are real. I honestly think that Andre Ward knows he should give the rematch, but is (right now) struggling for motivation and is tempted to retire instead. He's the favourite for the rematch, but it's still a risky fight and he knows it. My opinion is that Andre Ward does need to give the rematch for legacy's sake; a lot of the boxing world had him losing or drawing the Kovalev fight. Floyd gave a rematch to the people who deserved them for the same reasons (Castillo and Maidana).

However, I'll wait and see what happens before criticizing him for not giving Kovalev a rematch. He hasn't retired yet and he hasn't announced that he won't take the Kovalev rematch.

Officially at least. Like Mr. Kiwi I had him lose against Kovalev.

How do both it you see a rematch going? I think I lean toward Ward actually deserving a decision next time out.

I had it 117-110. In the rematch kovalev will come out with ergency we haven't seen in him in a long time and blast him out of there. He knows he can't rely on the judges

Ward doesn't own Kovalev me or anyone else here a rematch if the man wants to retire that's his right. With that said I think he should give Kovalev a rematch but it doesn't matter what I think it matters what Ward thinks and if he's happy with his career and life then so be it.

So are you going to act all little b*tch like if Ward retires and doesn't fight at CW or HW? You know, since his trainer said he would? Doesn't that make Ward a fraud in your beady crossed eyes?

I'm in two minds about it to be honest.

I see it as a fight that could go either way, however like you my objective part leans towards Ward ever so slightly. Usually in history the boxer improves more in the rematch than the boxer-puncher.

Still, if Kovalev can avoid slowing down in the latter half of the fight he has every chance of winning.
