The 100% focused Douglas that thrashed a prime Mike Tyson vs Lewis that ended Tyson's career as a top contender.
Douglas would box circles around him, jab his head off and knock him out cold with one right hand. Douglas threw a lot of combos vs tyson to knock him out, but against lewis one solid punch is enough, he's not getting up if you put him down.
That can also be said if Lewis lands a punch on his chin, Douglas wasn't exactly iron chinned either.
No, tucker landed a lot of punches to finish douglas and tyson put him down, just to get his ass kicked in the next round. Lewis went twice to the canvas and couldn't beat the count, he was out cold. All it takes is one solid punch and he ain't getting up.
Holyfield, an inferior puncher put Douglas away with one punch. Let's not paint the man as some bastion of toughness, he was stopped at every stage of his career.
He showed he can get off the canvas and win the fight, something lewis never did. You hit lewis only once, he's down and out.
Douglas in 1990 would beat most guys but Lewis isnt one of them. It would be a very good fight but Lewis is to strong,he would find a way to land the big over hand bomb ,late rounds.
Sorry. Care to talk us through the third round of the Holyfield fight with Douglas again. All this 'hit Lewis once and he's out' might be news to the likes of Bruno, Briggs, Klitschko, Mercer. And to prove you can get off the canvas to win, you have to go there in the first place. Lewis went down twice when sloppy and unfocussed. When he was on his game he walked through some pretty mighty wallops. The knockouts, although they happened twice, are far outnumbered by the times he stayed standing and he fought the division's best hitters unlike Bowe who is credited a lot on this forum for being iron-chinned. Lewis was at the top for ten years and went down twice. Of course it counts against his legacy but I think people refuse to see past the knockdowns, which are career anomalies, out of prejudice and judge him harshly. I voted Buster. On that night he would have beaten a 37 year old Lewis but that was one of the few moments in time in their careers when Lewis doesn't wipe the floor with him in my view.
Bowe was never stopped and has only one loss, razor thin decision that could have gone either way against a atg prime holyfield. Lewis on the other hand was knocked out twice by bums, with one punch. Huge mark on his resume. Briggs stunned him with a jab, and the others you mentioned didn't him solid except vitali, but again vitali has no power. Buster threw some vicious right hands with full leverage against tyson, no doubt it would spark lewis out. He threw combos to put tyson out, against lewis he just needs to land one big right and it's over. Proven recipe by mccall and rahman
After seeing him go toe to toe with Holyfield in both fights I have to agree Lewis's chin wasn't that bad at all, Evander could bang alright and he did hurt Lewis in both fights but that man kept firing back.
