Did Marvin Hagler dare to be great?

It's not the weight class but the elite fighters and toughest matchups that you fight. It's pretty simple. If one weight class isn't cutting it then you gotta be willing to go where the tough fights are. It's very simple but people want to be ******ed about it.

 

Hagler was the man at middle for seven years .what else do you expect ?

 

Some of the greatest middleweights who ever lived were career middleweights. Think Marvin Hagler and Carlos Monzon, just to name two. GGG isn't treading a new path.

There's plenty of legacy in being one of the greatest middleweights who ever lived and room in the IBHOF for them too.

Btw, I'd bet the house that the Duran that beat Barkley would have beaten Echols and Eastman. You know, the Barkley, that beat Hearns twice, who beat vastly overrated Hill, who you claim was a great lightheavy. And yes, Hopkins would have struggled with that Duran, no question about that. They were great

 

On of my favorite fighters... personally I've always liked the middle weight division.

 

Barkley wasn't any smaller than Echols, Holmes or Eastman and he lost to that lightweight.

That said, I agree that Golovkin doesn't need to move up to establish his legacy, so long as he is able to face the top middleweights going forward.

 

Hart, Monroe, Seales, Watts and Hearns. That's more than half of the list you provided, bailey.

Regarding Marvin, his circumstances were different.

He wasn't a big MW. He often weighed in below 160 in the days of same day weigh-ins.

There was no SMW division.

A jump to LHW was too much.


GG can move up to SMW when he's accomplished his MW goals. And I'm sure he will.


Ignore the GG trolls.

They're just a waste of time.
