https://www.youtube.com/shared?ci=9M7dJ2vPaiY Walked onto two big shots from McCall and Rahman who were top tier at the time heavyweights who's job it was or knock out fellow heavyweight fighters them same punches I think take out most heavies
I agree. I think the definition of chinny should be being KO'ed by a none power puncher. For example like David Price. Lewis was only ever stopped by power punchers, so I say not chinny.
He wasn't chinny but he wasn't exceptional, either. About the same as Wlad, average. Actually, maybe a bit better than Wlad, but not by that much.
He got ktfo twice by bums, by single punches. How come old fat holmes took everything mccall had and never went down, same as china chin maskaev against rahman x2? Even glass chinned sanders took rahman punches better than lewis... But lewis got hit only once and was out, you can't rate this guy high in h2h criteria, his chin and heart are not high caliber
he has a better chin than Wlad I think, either that or he reacts better to being hurt, Lewis doesn't fall apart. if anything he fights back harder. Not really a massive fan but against Vitali I was impressed, he was resilient after getting hurt multimple times. I'd even say Lewis had a good chin. two punches took him out of a fight thoughout his whole career, the loses didn't look great and effect his legacy to an extent but they certainly don't reveal he had a china chin, he just got caught perfect. there was a fine line when it comes to those loses, he didn't need to lose them, two punches he could have avoided. He let himself down there with his well documented arrogance.
Well, he could not continue after either, and prior to McCall and Rahman landing their shot, had not taken much damage. I think most top ten ranked heavyweights get up, and at the very least clinch or fight back before being stopped. Some would get up and shake it off moving on okay for the next round. A few would not have been floored at all. Lewis's chin/ability to take a punch is suspect.
the thing is that Lewis did that stuff when he was hurt in a fight anyway, just for the fact he didn't take a knee or go down. He survived some massive punches in his career avoiding being possibly stopped, using his survival skills. being hurt standing then continuing versus being knocked down then fighting on, is there much difference? you cant watch the Mercer and Vitali fights and tell me he has a suspect chin, you can say its not McCall granite but suspect? His chin was good but he got caught with two perfect punches. He would have been down and out a lot more in his career otherwise?
If his chin and recovery ability were good he would not fall into the ref's chest or take the 10 count. Chin's are best graded when they are hit, not vs. a reputation of a puncher who did not land their best. I do not think McCall's punch was perfect. It was a short right hand, and BOOM, down he went. Wlad doesn't have a good chin either, but at least he gets up and continues. Lewis when floored was finished.
I would class his chin as being good for a world class heavyweight, but poor for a top ten all time heavyweight. It was the kind of chin that might bail you out if you were a heavy puncher, but in all probability wouldn’t. He was the only top ten all time heavyweight to get taken out with a single punch in his prime, but he was also a tough customer who took a lot of heavy punches, from a lot of serious hitters.
his chin was hit plenty, that's the point. Its been discussed about him before, the fact that those shots just hit the spot and the circumstances were right. I seen him get hit a ton of times and wondered how he survived when he crumpled at the McCall punch, it didn't look hard but it hit the spot and had Lewis's equilibrium all over the place. He did actually get up as well, some refs might have let him fight on, although I think he wouldn't have done much. Wlad getting up and continuing don't mean much, what did he do?
So what if price is chinny who cares about price ? I never even mentioned price what are you on about ?
no one cares about price lol. what would you define as chinny? I'd say price falls into that category so that's what I meant. Lewis has taken too many flush shots to be called chinny. at least use the term where it makes sense, people just throw it out there
