Golota would beat both Klitschkos

Funny how golota got KTFO by Lewis in 90 seconds but vitali took Lewis 6 rounds and arguably beat him

But the reverse is also true: Golota fought his heart out over the 12-round distance against Chris Byrd when Vitali quit on his stool against Byrd after 9 rounds of action.

I can't believe this made it 12 pages.

I wouldn't pick Golota over Brewster, Peter, Povetkin, Chagaev, Ibragimov or Haye.

Brewster dusted him in a round.

Definitely a USA hope. If he ever wins a world title, however, I don't think he'll be seen as a full-fledged Polish heavyweight champion (Mazurek is half-Polish, half-Italian). Instead, I believe Izu Ugonoh has the best chance to become the first Polish heavyweight champion in boxing history. He was added to the big fight card on February 25th in Birmingham, AL, which will feature a total of three Poles. Besides Ugonoh, Artur Szpilka will tangle with Dominic Breazeale, and in the main event, Andrzej Wawrzyk will meet Deontay Wilder for the "Bronze Bomber's" WBC heavyweight belt. Szpilka-Breazeale and Wilder-Wawrzyk will be televised as part of Premier Boxing Champions on Fox.

Golota was so impressive in bowe fights that foreman and merchant tought of him as the best hw at that time.

Look at some of the prediction prior to lewis fight:

We at EBM have no trouble admitting when we blow a prediction. We were extremely confident that the Andrew Golota who clearly dominated both Riddick Bowe bouts would take out the weak-chinned Lennox Lewis. And we weren't alone:

"Golota will force Lewis into his kind of a fight, and his power will be the determining factor in the bout." - Dave Bontempo, ESPN Boxing Analyst

"Golota is an underrated fighter who doesn't get enough credit. He will have leaned his lessons from the Bowe fights and will finish off Lewis." - Anthony Gargano, New York Post

"Golota in two rounds - no contest. I think Lewis talks, but can't back it up with the the walk. Golota will absolutely be too much for him." - Dan Hirshberg, The Trentonian

"Golota will put too much pressure on Lewis, who will make the mistake of slugging it out with him." - Steve Sneddon, Gannet News Service

"It'll be close through four, and then Golota hits and hurts Lewis in the fifth with a booming right. He then proceeds to wear Lewis down for a ninth-round win." - Chris Thorne, Newark Star-Ledger

"Golota will turn the fight into a war. he can take a short. I'm not sure that Lewis can. Lewis will try to keep his distance but won't be able to for long." - Robert Seltzer, El Paso Times.

And there were others backing Golota as fervently as those above.

Of course, you know by now that Lennox Lewis annihilated Golota, stopping him in one minute and thirty-five seconds of round one, the fifth quickest stoppage in a heavyweight championship fight. How could so many knowledgeable people be wrong? Bernard Fernandez, Philadelphia Daily News, seemed to have sensed what the rest of found out in Atlantic City this weekend: "A shaky vote for Lewis by a later round stoppage. I'm not sure whether Golota has the mental make up to see it all the way through."

And that's what happened. We never got to see the real Andrew Golota. He was ambushed by his mental weaknesses. Golota, for all his bad boy image, is actually a sensitive and shy individual. He does a lot of unpublicized charity work. He visits schools and hospitals. And he cracks under pressure. Golota simply can't handle the stress. Here are some unconfirmed (as yet) rumors that surfaced both before, during and after the fight:

    1. Golota had disappeared 4 hours prior to the fight.

    2. An hysterical Lou Duva had his brother Dino and the Atlantic City police out looking for his wayward heavyweight.

    3. The 20 minute delay prior to the fight resulted from Golota's refusal to leave the dressing room.

    4. The slap across the face delivered by Lou Duva wasn't the first that Golota received that night!

    5. Golota suffered a post-fight seizure, during which he reportedly swallowed his tongue (literally impossible) and stopped breathing. Golota's medical problems have been "downgraded" to an anxiety attack - which makes much more sense.

Golota had a nervous breakdown before the fight, doctor doped him, look at his eyes when lewis floored him, you can clearly see the man wasn't there, eyes popping out of the head... Bowe shattered his confidence.

I wouldn't pick Wlad over brew, Povetkin.
That pov fight especially proved why he should not be favored over any top levellers in h2h match ups.
That fight was one of the biggest exposings you will ever witness.
Endorsing that win makes you a bigger fan of Wlad than to the sport itself.

Why is it such a stretch to believe when Williamson keep kicked Wlads ass, floored him and made him quit after 5 rounds. Golota was better than the touch of sleep

Yes, Waldo ragdolling a guy repeatedly who hadn't been down in 150+ fights, mostly fought at the elite amateur and pro level, isn't impressive.

Once again, your logic has turned me right around.

It was a terrible display of sportsmanship. He repeatedly ragdolled him because he simply couldn't out-box him. It puts things into perspective when you go and watch 200 pound Huck fight Povetkin toe-to-toe without a single clinch.

You must have the tape with the 2nd and 7th rounds missing. Good edit, that one.

As long as your guy got the win is all that matters. Method of victory need not apply. Wlad could have dropped kicked Povetkin to a stoppage and you'd still applaud him.

Bowe had destroyed Gonzales, looking terrific and KO'ed Holyfield, showing terrific heart and recuperative powers coming into the Golota fight. He was not shot .. that being said he was not a highly dedicated athlete, gained and lost a great deal of weight and was not the same fighter from the first Holyfield bout .. his body told the story .. he clearly lost muscle mass and was nt the same guy but I'd say he was still pretty tough .. Golota looked terrific early and was impressing everyone .. he was stronger and better conditioned than Bowe and was beating him up .. Golota just had a shot circuit when things did not go his way .. that being said, even at his best I see him limited because he proved incapable of winning big fights, mentally weak..
