Not really fair to take Valuev out though. David Haye has a world record fighting Valuev, biggest weight difference in a heavyweight championship fight, 99 pound weight difference, 9 inch height difference and 7 inch reach difference. Considering Valuev retired with a 50-2 record, it is very impressive.
Yes. But Valuev is an outlier. He screw up the numbers to a certain degree. I saw a very interesting weight comparison on heavyweightblog.com but now I cant reach the site...
Heavyweightboxingblog.com The site was taking down about five months ago. Yes I remember all the articles, and maths he did. It was probably the most interesting boxing site on the Internet. I learnt a hell of a lot from it. Size and weight does matter, and the maths proves it as the site showed. At least now I can apply the same principles to any heavyweight fighter. Wish I could still read the articles though.
arnie and stallone take the blame for this obsession with muscle. Brainless muscle worship has taken us back decades. theres a good reason why neither of them is ever going to make it in a cardio sport.
No, it has to do with on average heavier boxers have more punch resistance, and punching power. That is why it matters, nothing to do with bodybuilding.
Who was also a small HW and was actually around 5'11 despite being listed as 6'1 on boxrec and fought like a good ol' HW from 70s in his prime.
The guy who ran that site used post on here. He was a Mickey Mouse boxing fan and hated Ali with an absolute passion. The whole purpose of that blog was to tear Ali's career to bits while worshipping the Klitschkos as the greatest of all time. Not surprised in the least to find out that rag no longer exists. It was literate poop. All these weight obsessed weirdos are influenced by that troll blog. That includes you too Sven. Tell me how height is a talent again??
Yeah, too bad that's gone. I looked for it a few days ago and saw it was gone. He'd slowed down his articles alot, and then stopped entirely even before Wlad lost. He was too hard on Ali and old timers, but his application of logic and scientific principles to a sport desperately in need of it was awesome. Having a hard time figuring you out. You seem to appreciate that hw boxing has evolved, but you indicated in your poll thread that you thought Ali would beat Lewis? Do you think Ali would lose to any SHW?
This is far too general for my liking I have a different approach that I'll use Liston - Bowe Ali - Moorer Frazier - Old Foreman Foreman - Briggs Spinks - Lewis Holmes - Vitali Spinks - Wlad Tyson - Fury Holyfield - Joshua That's a rough chronological list of champions/premiere fighters. I pick Liston over Bowe Ali over Moorer Old Foreman over Frazier Foreman over Briggs Lewis over Spinks Holmes over Vitali Wlad over Spinks Tyson over Fury Joshua over Holyfield So I have it 5-4 to the golden era.
