I don't find it that hard arguing for Ali tbh.

He has the great equaliser, speed.

Many men throughout history have moved up and defeated heavier opposition because they are the faster men.

Few have carried power but almost everyone carries speed.

How much range is needed to keep someone as quick as Ali away? That's the big question and I don't think we've met a HW that ticks those boxes yet.

 

The other thing is that Ali can still be the GOAT without beating everyone h2h. H2h and being the "best" are two different things in my opinion. Along with Louis, he has a legacy that no other hw will probably ever touch. Whether he could beat them in a fight that could never happen is secondary at best to that fact.

 

I think if you are going to go with one version of Ali being better is has to be he 70s, because even though he was quicker in the 60s he did get hurt badly by boxers like Powell, Cooper and Mildenberger. Ali is going to get caught by boxers like Tyson, Foreman etc eventually, and the 60s Ali is very likely to get hurt and stopped by them. The 70s Ali is bigger and a lot more robust and could take shots from people like Foreman and Tyson, so if something does go wrong and he gets caught he has his robustness to fall back on. That's not all I have to say on it, but just one very important point.

Ali loses his magic a lot when you don't believe he is the best of all time. All the catchy funny poems, showboating and boasting are a lot more entertaining when you believe he is the best of all time like he boasts. Watching all YouTube clips, DVD's and reading books about him are not quite what it used to be like. I was quite a fanatic like a lot of people are when a idol catches your imagination when you are 14.

Lol. I'm thirty and certainly don't want to be middle aged just yet. Nothing I can do to prove I am not who you say I am. I write one long post and you think you know me. You are far too judgemental. I already stated about three time there that I don't believe Ali is the best anymore, but I do look to see if there is any evidence that he is. What is wrong with that? If the evidence is not there like you believe what is the harm in that? If there is some evidence would you not want to hear it and at least discuss it?

You had Haye written of not long ago as maybe a heavyweight featherfist which he is not in any shape or form.
