had him winning by 1 round going into the final round, had he not gone down in that round, think giving it to him by a round or two would not have been that harsh.
Round 3 i gave a 10-10. Looking back it probably was a jack round so that would make it 114-112. Some of the middle rounds could have gone either way but i thought that jacks aggression wasn't that effective, often taking a punch to land one then being outworked. They both had their moments but degale won it by a couple of rounds. Thought mayweather was laughable post fight.
Degale was launching wide flash shots at anything without actually placing any. These were mainly caught on jacks gloves. He was being broken down slowly with jacks more accurate punches. Degales feet weren't the best either he looked hunched and off balance at times. Close fight but I much preferred jacks work. Faces tell the story
Close fight that could've gone either way imo. I had Jack nicking it as I felt that he took a lot of Degale's work on the gloves and came back with better shots. Certainly not a robbery though. That term gets thrown around too much nowadays. Credit to Jack though. He's is a fighter which doesn't strike me as exceptional in any one regard, but he has a combination of solid fundamentals along with good athleticism and intangibles. These qualities seem to add up for Jack to make him better that the total some of his parts. He seems beatable but doing so is easier said than done. P.s God bless James degale. He often does not fight to his strengths but boy does he provide some good fights!
Had degale couple rds up. The commentary was confusing sometimes I can't see any of what their talking about.
I had it level going into the last so had Jack up by 2 by the end of the fight. Degale like every other big fight he's been in threw the middle rounds away not fighting to his strengths.
Jack won by at least a round. I don't score punches that hit arms and gloves which DeGale did a lot of.
People forget the KD in the friggen 1st.. and the grey in between.. That's why it's barx.. Ward/Degale would smash em again in the rematch anyway..
I had Jack edging it and thought that last round had clinched it. Degale's style is easy on the eye, he threw more but landed less in my opinion, hitting a lot of gloves. I could almost feel Jack's punches myself. Degale looks like he's been in a car crash. I was really impressed with Jack's consistency, his sheer hard work and his power. He wobbled Degale a few times and I thought he was going to get the KO.
Agreed so much of De Gales shots were blocked. Also out of those that landed Jack landed the heavier shots. In the 6th and 8th De Gale was hit with a lot of clean, powerful shots. The class difference in boxing ability was clearest in those rounds
Some guys do genuinely lose the first fights to come back.. Ali/Frazier I.. ring rust.. had the fight been a 10 rounder or 12 rounder maybe Ali would have won.. Leonard/Duran I.. the whole fight was fought inside.. so obviously in a points criteria you're gonna score it to Duran.. etc.. But most of the times.. in fights like these.. the guy who wins wins.. won because they're the better fighters..
