Will Mayweather Promotions be bigger than Golden Boy & TR?

In theory, I could see it happening. Mayweathers gym attracts a lot of good American talent.... the newest generation coming up look up to him and want to follow in his footsteps. Between that, and him having a decent network of scouters and people that will network with him to bring him good talent, AND he himself actively scouting talent like he does.... in theory, he should be as big if not bigger than GBP and TR, at least for awhile (in this sport theres ups and downs for everyone) once hes able to capitalize on this newer generation.

That being said... while Mayweather is obviously the asset of his company, with his scouting, networking, and image (that young fighters flock to), he is also the main liability. I question his ability to keep it successful once he starts getting leverage, due to his insistence on not working with some promoters, over protecting his guys too much to the point they don't build proper momentum, and letting his ego and emotions effect his progress.

So to me its hard to say. Will be very interesting to see the rise or fall of the company though.

All true, and I agree 100%, especially with Floyd being a dual edged sword. However, so far, Mayweather has been very faithful in taking Haymon's advice and I think this will continue.
Let's be clear, neither Mayweather or ODLH are sharp businessmen. They are the image, and in Mayweather's case, Al Haymon (and Scheafer) is the brain.
Whatever you may think about Ellerbe, he was earning 6 figures in the business world before mayweather and The Watsons have been in the biz and know it inside and out.

No problem. I just thought you thought he might still be around.
many people dislike Herbert for how he bilked Ali.

I think you are right. As a Boxer, he wanted all the money and really greedy. I do not see him giving good cuts to his boxers thus it will not get big....

Yep. Technically he advises boxers who sign up for his services, but for Floyd, I think their relationship may be much deeper than just boxing advice. I don't doubt he's provided Floyd with some very good personal and financial advice also.

We are not allowed to post links :cunaooooo:
Also being a talented boxer doesn't equate to becoming the best promoter. First he needs to learn how to read and write, and manage a company, then we can start speculating whether he can be an effective promoter. Only after few years thereafter, we can start predicting whether he can become the biggest promotion company.
This assumption thread is way too early even talk about.
