Exactly, Holmes basically had some success in round 4 and 5, he started to move around and jabbing more constantly just like Lewis did. Hell, Tony Tubbs basically did a good job but back then Tyson aggression was simply too much , its pretty much overshadowed his opponent technique/ability. Berbrick, Holmes and Tubbs for intense, got knockdown from a punch to the forehead. Mike didnt even need to land his punch on the chin to stop you.

Prime Tyson wasnt just about technique ,he's simply relentless. Pinklon Thomas was able to put up a great fight till at one point Mike threw 15 punches salvo!

I remember Jones saying himself that prime Tyson was "Too big, too powerful and too fast". he wasn't wrong was he.

Jones wasnt skilled at all. If he was he would have been able to extend his career with a solid set of fundamentals. His lack of fundamentals and reliance on natural physical gifts and steroids is why he turned into the boxing equivalent of a pin cushion. That and his utterly weak level of competition. To compare Ruiz to a prime Tyson is laughable. Tyson would slaughter Jones so bad it would be criminal. A past it Tyson would have killed Jones, a prime Tyson would have left him under permanent hospital care. Spinks was a better lhw/hw than Jones and he didnt make it past the first round.

The idea of ROIDS and Jones is important. You can find a clean line of demarkation between Roided Jones and when he stopped.

Would you put your money on Jones to NOT get caught by a fast starting monster like Tyson in the early rounds?

The Jones after the lou devalle fight, would have gotten tore up by a prime tyson. '03' Roy would have had a great shot at beating 03' version of Tyson no doubt.

But let's not forget how skilled Tyson was in his prime either, he had blazing speed and wicked power and a great combination punching repertoire , coupled in with some of the quickest and best head movement I've seen on any boxer before.

Would Roy Jones beat the prime Tyson ? Another disrespectful idea a bad joke.
The unskilled and fat Tyson type Tua destroyed Ruiz easily in the first round and Roy Jones' only one decent
heavyweight win was Ruiz by a boring 12 round UD win, this proves Roy Jones did nothing awesome in the
heavyweight division.Honorable mention Tyson was an ATG hw. with an incredible explosive and exciting
style. And the most important thing: the 216-220 pounds Tyson was faster than the 193 lbs Ruiz version
    Roy Jones.

I just cant imagine what would happen if Mike hit Jones with a clean punch , I mean Tyson could lose all rounds like he did against Botha and still killed him with one punch. Jones has been stopped many times once he get caught in his chin or even in the side of his head.

Mike only landed 2-3 punches in 6th round against Lewis and it caused a swell on a guy who's 6'5. That's basically just one slicing hook in that round he landed on Lewis face.

Jones wont have a chance even against rusty version of Mike, let alone 80's or early 90's Tyson. Its a dumb match up. Jones needs to land even more than Holyfield, Lewis & Douglas did while avoiding Mike's bomb at the same time. Mike was never stopped by a single punch. It took tons of punches from a 6'2-6.5 & 220-250 pound guys in order to beat him. What kind of attack that Jones would need to unleash to hurt Mike?

People often trying to imagine Mike against cruiserweight but in reality Mike has always been a legit heavyweight since he was like... 17? he's short but that's about it... in term of weight and physical frame, he's a legit heavyweight. If Spinks was never terrified by Mike, the final outcome would still be the same... perhaps it will took Mike 2 rounds longer.

Lol I can't believe this thread got 3 pages. I was clearly just making fun of the stupid people who love to say size doesn't matter and tell you 170 to 180 pound fighters like Marciano and Tunney could beat 6'3 plus 220 pound plus modern size heavyweights.

Anybody who knows boxing knows Tyson would destroy Jones Jr. Not just because of Jones Jr chin but because Tyson is a natural 220 pound heavyweight and Roy is a natural 170 pound guy.

Prime Tyson destroys RJJ. See the Berbick-Tyson fight with Berbick flopping around on the floor from a body shot. RJJ would be lucky to go 2 rounds with a motivated, young Tyson.
