Gamboa didn't seem like he'd lose to me. It still required inactivity and fighting Terrance Crawford in the wrong weightclass.

Larry Holmes, what a winning streak he had.

Aaron Pryor , after Arguello second fight . Too bad substance abuse ruined him.
Jeff Fenech , before his robbery draw against Azumah Nelson.
Fenech was never the same after.

Michael Spinks. Kinda wish he'd have stayed retired.

I even thought he had a good chance at beating Tyson at the time of the fight. Shows how media hype can shape our opinions in the heat of the moment. Hindsight has a way of making a joke out of said opinions.

I was young in the day of Mike Tyson. He reigned supreme and even had the nintendo game "Mike Tyson's Punch Out". To me and my friends, he was unstoppable. For me, his loss was the biggest surprise.

Felix Trinidad. Took until the 11th round against Hopkins for me to realize he was going to lose.

I don't think I've ever seen a fighter that I didn't think could get beat but Don Curry sticks out. At the time he was a welterweight he almost looked like the perfect fighter.

Mike Tyson's lose to Buster Douglas was a big shock.
Joe Frazier losing to George Foreman.
George Foreman losing to Muhammad Ali.

Yep. He was another guy that I thought would not get licked until maybe he reached 175. I love the way the guy looked about 2 feet away from ever landing anything and the next thing you knew he lands a big right hand or left hook from that far out on the outside.

A better way to ask this question would be which fighters did you like and didn't want to see loser or which fighters did you not like and want to see them lose.

For example Deontay Wilder hasn't lost yet at the time I making this comment. His fans want to believe he is unbeatable, the people who don't like him want him to lose.

Just like the people who will say I know Ali would beat Foreman even though he didn't think he would win and 99 percent of people who know boxing didn't think he should win. If Foreman didn't have his head up his butt looking past Ali he wouldn't have lost. But in any case Ali fans at the time wanted him to win. Why would anybody think Ali would knock out Foreman? He was never hurt or down before and don't say because Foreman has poor stamina. Nobody used that line until after he lost.

Don't say you know Mike Tyson would lose to Douglas because nobody did. People may wanted Tyson to lose because they didn't like him but at that time there was no reason to think Douglas a guy who always quit when the pressure got to him would say strong and beat Tyson.

Nobody thought Vitali would quit against Byrd, nobody thought Ross Purrity would beat Wladimir Klitscko. But the moment a boxer losers his 0 there are always people out there who will lie and say they know it would happen.

Great call. He looked unstoppable until that bizarre and fateful night with Nigel Benn.

I was expecting Holmes to lose around this time as his skills were fading rapidly but I did n't expect it to be against Michael Spinks.

Interesting. What's your source for Ali admitting that he did n't think he'd beat Foreman ? I've never heard or read it anywhere.
