My uncertainty of Golovkin is a few things

    - IMO, Golovkins speed is going to be a problem against the elites. How would he deal with a A level opponent that has good defense and speed is a big question for me

    - Hes there to be hit. Yes, I understand that he fights like that against guys he feels he can afford to fight that way against... but how do I know he wont fight that way against an elite fighter once his plan A fails (plan A being a measured approach)? Its one thing to fight a controlled, measured fight against a short fighter like Lemieux.... its another to do it against a big elite middleweight. If he tries to fight measured against an elite, and it doesnt work, and he starts getting tagged, usually with fighters like Golovkin their instincts kick in and he will fall into trying to make it a war, and again, starting to get hit. That would cost him, imo, against an elite fighter.

Those are my two biggest questions regarding G. He seems like he could potentially be the type of fighter that will look like an abominable beast against B and C level guys, but simply come up short against elite fighters that have certain attributes that will be a weakness for him. Theres nothing wrong with that, all fighters have their weaknesses.

We will see though. His fight against Canelo would answer a lot of questions for me.... Canelo has underrated speed, power you dont just walk through, good counter punching, ect. That will be a defining fight for both guys.

Great points about everything until you get to the part about Alvarez's power, Lemieux and Stevens both have much more power than Alvarez, and he took their shots well. Point being Alvarez absolutely does have GGG can just walk right through. Alvarez will be lucky to hurt fat*** Jr. let alone GGG, and I don't like either guy just keeping it real.

Think we may over rate Canelo a bit...an ageing Floyd took nearly every round off Canelo.....hate to think what Golovkin would have done to Floyd in that fight....GGG will get beat Age will be the determining factor....but no way it will be Canelo at least if the fight is in 2017.!!!!

Kirk says " How would he deal with a A level opponent " has a precedence before with fighters with high
ko % who looked indestructible at the time fighting a A level opponent.
Thomas Hearns was 32 -0 30 ko vs Sugar Ray Leonard
Carlos Zarate 52 -0 51 ko vs Wilfred Gomez
Wilfed Gomez vs 32 -0 32 ko vs Salvador Sanchez
Thomas Hearns lost to SRL a ATG.
Zarate / Gomez common denominator they move up in weight.
A A level challenger for Golovokin apart from Canelo ( debatable )will only occur if he moves to LH .

    Possibly.

Matchups make fights, and Floyd was and would always be one of the worst possible matchups for Canelo. Not to mention that for me, Canelo has improved not only in his ability since then, but also his physical prowess. What Golovkin would or wouldn't do against Mayweather in 2013 doesn't really have much bearing on a Canelo vs Golovkin fight in 2018, just in my opinion. I think boxing has plenty of examples of why that logic doesn't apply really well in boxing, for various reasons.

Anyways, not saying you are wrong, maybe I am starting to overrate Canelo a bit... though I picked Floyd to UD him, him to SD Lara, KO Kirkland in 5 or so, and to UD Cotto, so I feel I have him gauged appropriately, whereas if I were overrating him I probably would have picked him to beat Lara more convincingly and knock Cotto out. (I'm not boasting about getting those picks right, most people did, just saying that I don't think it points to me overrating Canelos ability)

But we will see man. That's the great thing about boxing (well... sometimes lol) I just hope the fight gets made.

There's no killers for him to fight.

Benn, McClellan, McCallum, Roy Jones Jr, Micheal Nunn, James Toney, Chris Eubank Sr, Iran Barkley, Julian Jackson, Carlos Monzon, Marvin Hagler,..etc..

Yeah I agree with your post...Floyd was a perfect match for Canelo...and I hope the GGG V Canelo fight happens in 2017...every year it is put off improves Canelo's chances.!!!

Golovkin has a very difficult fight coming up with Jacobs. Don't forget, SOB Ward will be helping to train Jacobs, teach him how to hold, grab Golovkin's leg, etc. Ward has taught Jacobs to fight Golovkin in Jacobs home town, with Jacobs judges, referee and boxing commission. SOB has been doing that for years. If Jacobs lands a jab, the home town ref will stop the fight and give it to Jacobs, I can see that coming. Golovkin has been conned, however, Golovkin might still knock Jacobs out, but that fight is rigged, thus the cheat SOB's advice. Jacobs will probably try to knock Golovkin out in the first or second round, then he will do the SOB cheating. Kovalev was a fool for fight SOB next to SOB's home town, with all three judges owned by SOB, plus the referee and the boxing commission. All Jocobs has to do is be standing at the end of the fight, he does not have to fight at all.......................boxing is very crooked, never underestimate that. I predicted what SOB would do against Kovalev, all SOB had to do is be standing, he did not need to fight at all..................SOB got his arse kicked and will have to be taken to court to get a rematch, if SOB does not retire. SOB is afraid of a level playing field..............................

"Willie Monroe pummeled a bleeding Marvin Hagler Tuesday night to win a unanimous dcision in a 10-round bout. Monroe, a 160-pound Philadelphian, came out strong against Hagler, a 160-pounder from Brockton, Mass., with left jabs and right hooks. In the 2nd round, Hagler suffered a nose bleed from a short left hook and a straight right hand. In the 5th, Monroe came out with three consecutive uppercuts and Hagler lost his mouthpiece and his nose started to bleed profusely. Hagler tried desperately to battle back and returned with a series of body punches. Monroe picked his opponent apart in the 7th with the jabs and the nose continued to bleed. But in the 8th, Hagler returned with rights and lefts to the body. In the 10th, Monroe took command and put too much pressure on Hagler." - United Press International

    Post-Fight Comments:

    • "From the 2nd round, I couldn't breathe. I learned a lot from Monroe and I'm still young." - Marvin Hagler
    • "I was strong, tall, slick and quick. He couldn't figure me out." - Willie Monroe
    • "Monroe had the best fight of his career. Willie just had one of those nights every fighter dreams about." - J. Russell Peltz"

An amature fight isnt a pro fight... so I don't weigh its significance the same. I am talking about an A level fighter in a 12 round professional fight. That Golovkin did or didn't fight A listers with good speed and defense half a dozen years ago while in the amatures can be a definite bonus to Golovkin, but hardly has enough merit, imo, to silence my questions, for me personally, as to how he would do against a top tier professional with speed, over 12 rounds.

.......GGG already beat 11 top10, including 5 world champs, 17 defenses so 3 wins more to b-hop's record, highest ko percentage ever among middleweight champs, p4p top 3 in all rankings, never even been down in almost 400 fights, Amateur legend 345-5, olympic silver medal, world amateur gold, AND finally ducked by everyone.

Boxers that ducked/ducking GGG, fyi all of these are/were world champs.

    1. Sturm --- wouldn't fight him for over 2 years when GGG was mandatory to him.

    2. Quillin --- said he will only fight for the may-pac kind of money, lol + he flew to Haymon to avoid GGG

    3. Martinez --- "His promoter said that "no way I am putting him with this monster", GGG kept calling him out after his U.S. debut after every fight

    4. Cotto --- ducked his mandatory(GGG) twice by fighting Geale and Canelo

    5. Chavez jr --- Turned down 12mil offer by TR for 2 fights while GGG already signed

    6. Canela --- Avoided his mando(GGG). Thinks that he is fighting at the weight-class of 155, as there is no such thing as a "155 weight-class" ,he is pretending to be not in the MW division because of GGG. There are 17 divisions just pick one, if you can't make 154 then you are a MW, simple. And then he dropped the belt when he had to fight GGG next, wow. then fights Chavez at 165 but wont fight GGG at 160.

    7. Froch --- After calling GGG out then when GGG accepted ,he backed down and now he is retired after making all the fuss, + GGG was calling him for more than a year b4 he was retired so no excuses for "retiring". Carl said in a SkySports interview he will swerve GGG like the plague, he punches like a mule and there's no point getting in the ring with someone like him.

    8. Ward --- The diva of the 168lb division don't want to travel or meet the a-side GGG in a catchweight so he can become a good boy and get ktfo. Was willing to goto 160 for Floyd but when GGG said 164, Ward ducked + he was fine when Dawson came down a whole division for him but wont move half a division for GGG, smh

    9. Saunders --- Even before winning the WBO title from Lee his fear of Golovkin was as biright as day this is just one of many interviews(
    This content is protected
), then after winning it he priced himslef out at 6 mil$. Then turned down $3.2mill offer from k-2(its 2.2 gbp)

    10. Eubank jr --- Very similar to Froch's duck of GGG, after calling GGG out he lost his pen when he had to sign

    11. Njikam --- When Hassaan was WBO champ, he was ordered to a purse bid to face Golovkin no less than two times and he was a no show each time.

    12. Barker --- When Barker defeated Geale to become IBF champ, his promoter openly said that he will fight any1 except GGG, Golovkin offered to fight him in England practically free, his only demand was for them to give Team Golovkin 10 FREE tickets, Barker ducked.

    13. Mundine --- Another blatant ducker, google it.

    14. Soliman --- Soliman won the IBF title in 2014 from Sturm, immedietly after winning the title he called out GGG, then GGG fought his countryman Geale. He saw the fight and changed his mind stating he will NOT fight GGG after what he saw.

    15. Zbik --- Just like sturm, protected by Universum.
