Was he on the wrong side of 30 during even 20% of that time?

GGG, Spence, Aj, TC , canelo and loma (getting there) are all levels above the rest. Talking talent and skills strictly. All ****ing beasts and are the elites of the elite

So sorry, there is 5 that are steps above, canelo keeps getting stronger and his talents cannot be denied. We have charlo and andrade type fighters who there's quite a few that are truly the only ones who COULDN'T upset any of the A++ fighters

Appreciate all the opinions and comments, you all are some intelligent guys. All valid opinions.

About Hagler not fighting a live body in his first 40 fights, I admit I wasn't around in the 70's, so I guess I need to brush up on my history of that era.

I do agree with most of the post that IronGassiev made about all the guys who have already ducked Golovkin, even if all didn't duck him those are some impressive names who are contenders in this era.

Who ever said that Hagler didn't fight anyone in his first 40 fights is obviously clueless about the resume of Hagler and are just trying to blow GG up. We call them dickriders.

People have to recognize more than the big names on a resume.

    Wait just a second.
Im a Chavez Jr fan, and before the fight, only a handful of Mexican Nationalists and a couple others here as ESB were "picking Chavez Jr" and most, not even for those reasons.

Im sure we could go deep into Kirks league to see what the concensus was.
Martinez was not the underdog on this forum or in Vegas.

Most Martinez fans called the fight before it happened and most Chavez Jr fans called the 12th rd but thought it would happen earlier and be the decider.

That said.....Jr's always had more haters and sceptics here than fans.
And best I know, there's only a couple of us left here.

    Well said Blizzy.

I know you're not a big Eur/Asian fightfan, but you do come thru with some solid posts alot of times.
This one is a big one.
Looking back to the early career of GGG, while he was being shut out of the WBA and WBO titles by his own Promoters, we can look at his resume and see more than a few well known contenders from across the pond, and a couple of those guys have given current/former titlists and contenders their toughest fights.

I'd almost rather GGG has 20 defenses against the Bouhdlas and Khomitskys than 2 against Cotto and Canelo.

Khomitsky was a tough dude, and Golovkin was matched up early with him.

Can't make him #1 without earning it, unfortunately. Not entirely his fault.
