ESPN and Golden Boy Promotions today announced a multi-year, international agreement for a series of fights to be televised live on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes. The first fight, from Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California, is March 23. Fighters on the card will be announced soon. “We are excited to announce this new agreement with Golden Boy Promotions, one of the world’s top promoters,” said Burke Magnus, executive vice president, programming and scheduling at ESPN. “ESPN and ESPN Deportes look forward to featuring a new series of exciting world-class matches, along with a deep and wide variety of studio and digital content, in this multi-year, exclusive live-fight package. In the first year of the deal, ESPN will televise 18 fight cards throughout the U.S., in both English and Spanish, and on its wholly-owned and affiliated networks in Latin America, Canada, the Caribbean, Australia and parts of Asia.

Starting with that show in March, Golden Boy will have a fight card each two weeks, with the exception of October and December, when GB will only put one show

2017 gonna be a great year for us

That's great because he has some really good fighters. I like that guy Ronnie Rios.

awesome cool fantastic can't wait ...

I have Golden Boy's channel. So let me predict the first ESPN card will look like:

It'll be Lopes vs Morales, Gomez vs Martinez, Lopez vs Martinez (another Martinez), Rodriquez vs. Diaz, Diaz Jr. vs Gomes and Vargas vs. Rios.

The next it'll be Gomes vs. Gomez, Lopes vs Lopez, Diaz Jr. vs Diaz, Vargas vs. Vargaz, Martinez vs. Rios, and Martinez (not the same Martinez) vs. Rios (not the same Rios).

Golden Boy already has its own channel. Roughly 99.9 percent of it is just one anonymous Mexican fighter against another anonymous Mexican fighter. You can't remember who fought from one fight to the next. None of them are standouts.

Golden Boy has one Ukrainian boxer. There's one Canadian. I believe one Muslim-American. Basically everyone else waives the Mexican flag.

    That's it.

Boxing is an international sport. I like to watch fighters from all over the world fight. Watching cards every week just loaded top to bottom with more anonymous Mexican fighters isn't helping to grow the sport any more than watching cards week after week loaded with anonymous Irish fighters would help the sport grow.

When Al Haymon quit working with Golden Boy, all the diversity left that organization.

GB needs to sign more talent. They kinda got left behind in that department.

More talent FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. Not just guys who look like they have skills who live between Los Angeles and Mexico City.

Now we need our local forum businessmen to dissect this and tell us why it'll fail financially like they did with the illuminati-like Haymon. Then we can all question why they aren't rich and spend time on a boxing forum.

    Oh and that's good news!

The more free fights the better! Hopefully they even manage to put on a few competitive ones.

I think that he does have quite a few fighters but he haven't mainstreamed any of them, He stages a lot of fights on HBO Latino and I have seen some pretty good fighters. He also stages regular fight cards in Cali, ( I forgot what city ). I think that with this ESPN deal we will start to see a lot of his really good fighters.

GB will also show 24 fight cards in 2018.
And I dont think this is a time buy either. This seems like a partnership between GB and ESPN.
