I thought Hagler won that fight but he did allow his bitterness to show too much.

Mayweather didnt fight very well vs Pacquiao, no one argues that.

But regardless of who/what style you like, you cant give Pac more than 5 rounds. There's not 5 tight enough to score to him, whereas only Mayweather's blindest haters cant score 6 clear to Floyd.

    116-112 Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Oh Mayweather beat Pac, but he's boring and picks his fights. He's not even close to being a legend.

He's been slapping his girlfriends around for 15 years too. It doesn't make it any less wrong.

I just saw that fight a few months ago again (I see it every couple years or so.)

Hagler is by far my favorite fighter of the 80's and probably of all time, so I was really bias watching that match the first few times. I always looked at Leonard as a great talent, but he had his moments of picking out his opposition when it suited him the best (sans Benitez and the first Duran and Hearns' fights.)

I couldn't give Hagler any of the first 4 as Leonard clearly outworked him early on, forcing marvelous to play catchup for the remainder of the fight (although I thought Marvin clearly won rounds 5-8.) The ebb and flow of that match was so unusual to watch unfold. I thought Ray nicked him by 2 points because of the solid work he put in during the championship rounds. If Hagler just started a bit stronger, he could've definitely eked out the decision.

i will say this, he sure waited on Hagler a very long time before getting in the ring with him. He wouldn't have ever thought about fighting someone as monstrous as Marvelous until his brutal war against Mugabi in 1986.

I agree with all that, I got fed up with that way of scoring a few years ago.

yeah, I don't think I will be revisiting that farce. I recall thinking Mayweather edged a crap non-action fight, hardly the clinic that was claimed.

I've scored it several times and always have Hagler 1 or 2 points ahead.

Leonard definitely waited until Hagler was showing clear signs of decline, but on the other hand Leonard was coming up in weight and a lot of inactivity. So Hagler should have done much better than he did, whatever way we score it.
A great night for Sugar Ray Leonard anyway.

You're right, both Floyd and Pac were/are trying to maximise their earnings IMHO.

I guess the only difference is marketing. Floyd decided that being dislikable (i.e. Money Mayweather, showing off his wealth) was a good way to sell his fights, because people came hoping to see him get knocked out. Conversely, Pacquaio clearly wants to be considered a 'good' person.

Well, I recently moved. I'm back in my old neighborhood which kind of borders downtown Louisville, Germantown, and the Highlands. I'm within walking distance of where Bardstown Rd starts.

This. 8-4 or 9-3 were the correct scores IMHO.
