David Haye joins forces with Richard Schaefer in new promotional outfit

Let's see how irrelevant he is when his Bellew Gloves are off episode smashes YouTube and Sky views and the actual fight sells out O2 with big PPV numbers.

 

The build-up to this 'fight' will be a lot more interesting than the fight itself. It's a circus show, just like Haye's last two fights.

As a side note...as Bellew as alluded to in a recent interview, is Haye taking this fight in March seriously? The making of this deal can only be distracting surely.

 

I think so, spent Christmas away from his kid in Miami in training. He was in tremendous shape already in December from his Twitter videos so I believe he is definitely taking it seriously.

As Haye said, he could go out in a bender every night from now until March 4 and still knock Bellew out. Haye can make the big deals whilst still training to KO the bomber.

 

Good point twenty. Whats the deal with him training in miami anyway. Who,s training him out there with mcguigan preparing frampton for a big fight. Haye sounds a bit off to me atm. Comes across a bit depressed says the right words but heart doesnt seem fully in it. This stuff with promoting other fighters should be waiting till his careers over for me. He should have just signed with a promoter and concentrated on being a serious fighter again.

I'm seeing a businessman, a entrepreneur...a man motivated by being taken seriously 'outside' the ring.

Most people on here might be right and he'll still have enough to KO Bellew, but I think Haye is done in the ring, personally. I can't seem him fighting again after March.

 

Yeah the thing is i ve always quietly fancied him to take joshua out. But to have any chance he,d have to be living the life completely. Doesnt quite appear to be the case tho. Never thought too much of his so called 'money problems' But the more i see of him it kind of does appear like a desperate man that ll do anything for money.

One things for sure tho bellew will be taking it seriously. Think haye will knock him out. But few question marks against haye recently in terms of taking his fighting career seriously. Think hes stupid cause he could have a good run of things if he did.

Essentially tho maybe just a little bit too small to be a top heavyweight. Still have a feeling his style gives joshua big problems tho.

 

He trains out in Miami a lot. When he was inactive after his shoulder rehab that's where he was training. As you said with McGuigan training the jackal Haye has to keep himself ticking over. I'm sure he knows what he's doing and gameplan wise - he barely needs to do anything to win this fight let's be honest. I see it more as training to be in fight shape rather than working on technical things with his coach. He will smash Bellew.

 

If he's anything like he was in his prime, I'd agree, he'd smash Bellew and be a nightmare for most other heavyweights.

Bellew's going for speed interestingly. He's not going to bulk himself up and is aiming to be just over the cruiserweight limit at 208ibs (14 stone 8ib). Haye came in at 224ib (16 stone) in his last fight. If he's anything like that in March, no way will Bellew be going in toe to toe. That's a huge difference.

 

Schaefer in an interview with iFL confirms that this will be terrestrial based. Feasibly only BBC, Channel 4 or ITV could broadcast with ITV being the clear favourite.

 

Just seen an interview with him the now mate...seemingly working out there with a guy thats worked with shayne for years. So maybe not as bad afterall.

 

Sure haye said hes aiming for about 220 for it mate. Good move from bellew going for speed. Think he ll fight the same way he did against stevenson. Try to catch haye coming in. The problem is even hayes jab takes it out you. Will soften bellew up with it...then go in for the kill when he sees the oppertunity. Got to be careful though cause bellew will be constantly working on catching him coming in.

Bellews actually not a bad counter puncher when he does try to counter punch. Although he was mocked against stevenson...he actually had him a bit wary of coming into him for a bit. But should be easy enough nights work for haye.

 

Bellew's problem generally is that he can be wildly inaccurate most of the time. Particularly against Clev in the second fight where he couldn't even land clean when Clev was gassed and sitting on the ropes for so many rounds. Against Flores also, Bellew missed a lot.

If he does that once against Haye he's getting knocked out, so quick and hard hitting is Haye.

The weigh in is going to be borderline comical viewing with Haye's thick, chiselled 215-220lb body lined up against Bellew's bird chested, puffy soft physique. I'm a Bellew fan but the difference here is astronomical unfortunately for him.
