I think Jeffries can be considered an athlete, he was fast afoot. Not the most skilled boxer perhaps but probably the first precursor of the "modern heavies"?
Undefeated until dragged back into retirement. Bit of an unknown here, but I would bet my luck with Jeffries. Whats most likely to happen is he wins with heart and toughness. A guy with Jeffries physical assets who grew up in a less forgiving world 100 years ago is dangerous.

Yeah. It's hard to say what Jeffries could do with his power, but if testimonials are right, he could whack. And if he could indeed whack, I wonder how Wilder would take his attack? Wilder can bang. He's got a wicked punch. He could put Jeffries out against his own volition. That right on Spilzka was disgusting. He's got that going for him. Jeffries is from another era culturally. Where living a more physical and violent life was more normal than it is today. The mentality was different. Wilder is a tough dude, and has that warrior spirit, but Jeffries probably had it in spades. And that stuff matters when you're trading firepower.
I think he could have been a good NFL player. He had the size,speed, strength and toughness. Pretty nimble on his feet. Wilder doesn't see round six. He's a protected fraud of a champion beating non top ten guys and sometimes getting exposed in victory. Those long light and tall types usually do not take a good body shot. Jeffries was a tremendous body puncher.
