Just to fill you in on something. Marco Huck's achievements at cruiser weight pale next to what Spinks did and given that most people don't know who the Huckster is now, I don't need a crystal ball to know that he'll be forgotten.
Just to fill you in on something that's really just your opinion and it really doesn't mean jack ****. fact of the matter is Huck is a very, very good cruiserweight. Don't like that? I really don't give a **** Oh and Povetkin is a better heavyweight than Spinks ever was and I doubt he would have went out in 81 seconds like your boy did. Just to fill you in on that also
without the roids? mayonnaise era povetkin doesn't reach spinks in that time, let alone have the energy to punch him when he gets there you're also overating huck a bit, but I like him and he gets underated on average in this forum I feel.
Just to fill you in on something, I think most people would share my opinion that Michael Spinks was a better fighter than Marco Huck is who we're comparing and not Spinks to povetkin. By the way the only fight Huck ever had at heavy was Povetkin who he troubled the hell out of.
I like Sasha more than some on here, I think he is a solid heavy that would give most a good fight, however, I would have to go with Holmes by decision, great chin, great jab, sneaky fast right to keep fighters honest.
Just to fill you in on something Holmes struggled with fighters who weren't the caliber of Povetkin. Which is what this thread is about.
And Povetkin struggled with fighters that couldn't carry Holmes jockstrap. Let's put things in perspective here: Holmes was a champion for 7 years, had 20 defenses, and fought 3-4 times a year. Povetkin is a contender who fought twice a year, and beat 2-3 top 5 contenders in his ENTIRE CAREER. Just because Holmes struggled a few times fighting at a MUCH higher level than Povetkin, doesn't mean he would perform like that every time. Statistically, when you fight as much as Holmes did, against the level of fighters that Holmes fought, you're NOT going to perform at your best EVERY time. But when you're a fighter like Povetkin who fights twice a year against mediocre opposition, there's far less room for off-nights. In short, Holmes cleans his clock.
"Your NOT going to perform you best every time." Lol! Right.. kinda like what most people on this kind of thread point to when talking about Povetkin... He struggled with Huck!!" SMH And the carry the Jockstrap thing has been used up and was lowclass to begin with. Not surprised an idiot like Holmes made it up and said that to Rockys brother. And Holmes wasn't qualified to shine Marcianos shoes Oh and Povetkin at his best KO's Holmes.
Granted and I agree. But I just wanted to point out how a past prime Holmes struggling with an ATG wasn't comparable to Povetkin's struggle with Marco Huck and while being prime. But yes, Alexander is better than a fair number of people Holmes fought including some of the ones who gave him problems. How good is povetkin exactly ?Hard to say. I don't think he's beaten that many truly good fighters and certainly not prime ones. Chris Byrd, Larry Donald, Cedric Boswell, Ruslan Chagaev and Hasim Rahman were finished and some of them even shot. Eddie chambers was a decent win but Eddie was very green and never materialized into much anyway. Johann Duhappas took the fight with no time to prepare. Marco Huck gave him all kinds of problems and a 37 year old Klit beat the shlt out of him.. I actually like Sasha and once again agree that he was as good or better than a lot of 80s contenders. But picking him to beat Larry Holmes and based on what we have to work with is probably overrating him.
Holmes outworks him in the Championship rounds but this would be a hard hard hard hard earned decision. Wide points and easy work my ass. Povetkin is durable, relentless, strong, smart, big, and throws the best HW combinations since Tyson. Unless you count Holyfield. Holmes is gonna eat some leather in this and get hurt a few times, maybe even dropped. But Holmes at his best overcomes and his superior stamina will just barely get him past Povetkin.
