Could Sugar Ray Robinson be beaten at middleweight?

yes he could in 1955 onwards at middle weight many other great fighter could beat him
in 1951-1952 fewer great fighter could beat him but it would not be easy.
he could be beaten by rough houses and fighter how stuck on him like a rash or just awkward fighters. he fought in a steady rhythm dictating the pace with his jab and footwork but if this rhythm is broken Robinson struggle badly in his welterweight days it was basically unbreakable (the rhythm) but at middleweight his reflexes weren't as good and his feet weren't as fast if fighter came at him like a whirlwind they can break the rhythm and out work ray to a win. examples lammotta 2nd fight, Carmen basilio 1st fight and gene fulmer in almost all their fight even randy turpin in the first fight.

 

I don't think Robinson Is unbeatable he struggled with unorthodox fighter as well as fighter with high work rate gave him trouble but in a series with these fighter he would come out on top

 

The guy to give Robinson problems has to have a granite chin, stamina, and an aggressive style. Not necessarily throw a lot of punches but stay on top of him. Robinson was made to order for Lamotta but Lamotta lost 4 or 5 out of 6 fights.

 

ray also had trouble with very unorthodox fighter like gene fulmer and turpin

 

Bobo Olson didn't dethrone Robinson, far from it, Sugar kayoed him 3 times, as well as outpointing him. Olson outscored Turpin for the vacant title after Ray retired following his loss to Joey Maxim.

The guy was a welterweight who moved up to compete in a second division.

Given his skill level though he'd still be able to defeat a lot of MW fighters.

Picking an individual MW to beat him at his best it extremely difficult, so I would just have to cop out and say if he faced the field of great MW fighters, he'd pick up some losses.
