Maybe, but like you said, no one has yet, so we may never find out. SRR had a ton of matches go the distance, his power was overrated, like GGG's may prove to be.

    Fair enough
Lots of people refer to the Brook fight to point out that a smaller faster guy was be able to hurt him, but I don't buy that reasoning, I thought GGG taking those head shots with ease.
But I have seen somebody touch him in the body recently, forgot which fight, and I saw GGG snap gone for a good half minute.

Dn't know the total losses, but do know that some had records like 80-12-1 and 72-14-0, 53-4-2, etc. That many of them had 2-3 times the fights than Golovkin.
This was a time when Boxers couldn't cherry pick fights like Golovkin does and took fights on a weeks notice, so "0" loses weren't as much of a selling tool like today.
I'd like to see Golovkin, or any of today's boxers, fight two or three times per month for a year and see if in 12 months and 24/36 fights if he'd stay undefeated.

If he went all out, I'm pretty sure Golovkin could KO......

....in a month or two, but let's be liberal with GGG, say... in 12 months, and you wouldn't give him one ounce of credit for it would you?

It's funny how every old timer is at their absolute peak in every hypothetical, ggg would put srr in the hospital and in all likelihood retire him when he should had retired which was as soon as he let himself drink and eat into the MW division.

A division he wasn't half the fighter he was at ww.

And 19 of those 20 "fights" would be sparring sessions by today's standards. ****, the talent gap is tremendous and it's not favoring the fighters of the 50's and back who drank all the time and smoked a ****ing pack a day.

Holy ****, the bias is unbelievable

I'm confess to being a dreamer, but only when I asleep.
Golovkin is a 6 round fighter that fights 2, maybe 3 times per year.
If he had to fight once per month (12 fights/year) he'd probably quit the sport and become a promoter.

Yeah, I could actually see Golovkin fighting once, maybe 2 times per months. In your dreams.

I read someone say that Sugar Ray RObinson's power is overrated.

I should've quoted them but if anyone has that train of thought, they obviously didn't see the man fight. He knocked out guys with one shot off his backfoot. I saw a knockout of his during his MW title campaign in Europe where he punched the guy with an overhand left while moving backwards, the guy did a full 360 spin before dropping face first into the canvas.

It's funny people are mentioning this hypothetical matchup when anyone who knows even a modicum of his background should know he was a prime fighter at Welterweight, not Middleweight. What he did at 160 and above just added to his legend, especially considering a decent amount of his fights at the higher divisions occurred after his initial retirement in the early 50's. This was a guy that started as a standout amateur at FW and became arguably the greatest champion in WW and MW history.

Gennady is an awesome fighter, no doubt about it, but he's not Sugar Ray Robinson and he'll never be remembered in that light. If he wants his resume not to be laughed at when being compared with the greatest fighter ever, he has to at the very least take on better challenges in his own division. And if he's REALLY serious about making a name for himself as an ATG, he needs to move up. There's nothing at MW that'll make him an elite ATG.

Dustin Nichols would be a close second but if you added a bottomless coke and a side of fries to that order he'd put on a sudden burst of speed and pip Tyson for the win. Obviously Owens comes a distant third, since he doesn't have the advantage of the incentive of modern nutrition

I couldn't have said it better myself.
If Kell Brook could hit and bother Golovkin just think what SRR would have done to him.
As I said earlier, I doubt Golovkin could have even beaten Jake Lamotta.
SRR would probably not have fought Golovkin after he had a dream about killing him in the ring.

Why would anyone fight 2X per month unless they're broke. And if you think fighters cheery pick today. My lord, 90% of srr opponents wouldn't ever make it to the top 20 rankings. Hell, top 100 ****, they would NOT be fighters who make it past being sparring partners.

Some of you have no idea what you're seeing
