He was always going to be the darling of boxing hipsters. A hard hitting Cuban pretty much unknown to casual fans until recently when they jumped on the he's 'great just been really avoided' bandwagon. The fact is he's an aging drugs cheat whose glaring limitations were exposed by Scott.
His limitations haven't really been exposed as a heavy though have they. How many top flight heavys are going to run away for 12 rounds...erm none. He just looked a bit of a plodder - he wont many as negative as Scott and Allen certainly wont fight that way. He will walk forward try and play pitch and catch and hopefully land some digs. So if your in in LO#s wheel house your vulnerable. Jennings is a good fighter and he hammered him. It is possible he has aged a bit though so there is a bit of intrigue for this BUT....if this is a one sided beatdown after 5 round some one needs to pull Dave out he looks tuff as sin but that aint a good thing if your eating clean punches. And Ortiz in Thompson and Jennings where he looked pretty good are much much better than Dave... I'd love Allen to pull it off but despite being 'game' against Whyte he didn't throw enough big shots.
just a quick post for those who like a flutter. You can get Andrew selby at 4/1 to win a world title by Jan 2018. With casimero giving up his ibf title and the WBC also vacant heard selby will be thrown in for a title fight ASAP.
Lee Selby - Points Mikey Garcia - Win Carl Frampton - Points 5/1 I cannot see any other outcome for the above fights, surely this is buying money. Someone try and talk me out of putting the months rent on the above bet.
Looks a good bet to me mate, think there is a chance Frampton might stop LSC this time though that would be my biggest worry.
I've been looking at this combination myself. How do you see the Selby fight going? Any word on how LSC and Frampton are looking in training? The first fight was close and think if it's close can see Frampton losing out this time.
Frampton @ 8/11 is an absolute steal. Honestly, I've just watched the first fight again and he is several leagues above LSC. In no aspect of boxing is LSC superior. He can't win on points and doesn't have the power (or the skills come to that) to knock Carl out. Pay day on Friday...put it all on Frampton. He CANNOT lose.
How is betting on a decision win for a British fighter on American soil a safe bet? Have you seen how many robberies there have been lately?
There's no such thing as a safe bet, regardless of the fighters involved and the location. However, there's no reason to suspect a robbery since the first fight went Frampton's way (rightly so) and most recently DeGale got a contentious draw (majority of observers scoring the fight to Jack). Frampton boxed LSC's head off in the first fight and shown him for what he is - a limited one-paced volume fighter. I don't see that changing in the rematch - the most likely outcome is Frampton on points again. As with all bets, only gamble what you're prepared to lose.
Given how close the first fight was and the fact that the rematch is in Vegas, I don't see it as a safe bet. LSC wins a decision, mark my words.
