    Duran only just.

I think he's a slightly more adaptable fighter, a slightly better ring general and is better proven at a higher level.

Both are in my top ten, but being able to outbox Leonard over 15 rounds is enough to make a difference.

Armstrong. His achievement is still the greatest in boxing. 20+ defences aren't half bad either.

Armstrong for me. Duran is my favorite fighter ever, but if I had to make a p4p list, Henry would be in my top 5. Duran would be up there for me p4p, but not top 5. Henry won the 126, 135 and 147 titles, holding them at the same time. And he drew for the 160 pound title. That's simply insane.

wow, that's a good one like both fighters, both legends. If you put a gun to my head and tell me to pick I would say just shoot me.

    Armstrong, by a significant margin.
    His achievements outshine Duran's.
Armstrong would be top 3 on my list, very possibly #1.
Duran wouldn't make the top 10.

When I watch both fight, Duran just seems that bit better to me.

Armstrong for me is definitely the greater fighter. Top 5 lock.
BUT Duran is definitely better, arguably the best ever prime for prime.

Armstrong is a few places ahead of Duran who is also extremely high. Both would make my top 5 post 1930 or so.

Armstrong...the man held 3 REAL world title at the same time in 1938...had 181 total fights...he won 151 of them...and scored 101 KO's....and should have added the Middleweight title to his resume'...(ripped off)...he stands head and shoulders above Duran...

Moving up from LW to beat the Second best WW of all time isn't top ten worthy? I'm curious though and this begs the question, who is in your top ten?

Off the top of my head, I would have Armstrong, Robinson, Langford, Greb, Pep, B.Leonard, Charles, Gans, Ali, Louis and possibly McFarland ahead of Duran. Maybe a few others.

I doubt Ray Leonard was the second-best welterweight of all-time, and I think Duran outgrew the lightweight division naturally so I'm not going to pretend he was a little guy taking on a monster there either.

How many divisions did BL go up and who did he beat going up? I've also never quite understand the HW being ranked so high in P4P lists. I mean, I kind of get it, but really, they mostly go up against guys their size; and if they don't, they are beating bigger HW's that simply aren't as good as them. For example, name me the HW's that Joe Louis beat, that were bigger than him, that were close to skill to him? So beating a big guy, who isn't very good, isn't really impressive to me in a p4p sense.

I don't think moving up divisions is the be all and end all. If you want to rank Duran above some of the names I mentioned, that's fine.
Duran moved up and beat some great fighters, but he lost to some ordinary ones too.

You've got it backwards, Heavyweights tend to fight men who are much bigger than themselves far more often than fighters in other divisions weights do. Unless they happen to be one of the most giant of the HWs.
