Since the left hook doesn’t seem to have been a fight winning punch against Louis, I would say that Marciano would do better due to his right.
I think this is an intruiging question,Marciano's better two handed power versus Frazier's faster hands and more polished attack.I'm going to wait and see what others say here.
Marciano probably, because he was more 'awkward'. Frazier was good but more predictable. Louis would probably find his measure sooner with Frazier, who bobbed and weaved straight ahead. Marciano had funny angles, and that unusual lean-back sideways crouch he'd lunge in from.
Frazier's far superior speed of attack keeps Louis from setting up his combo's. Once he gets the ball rolling things tend to go downhill fast. Frazier has more than enough juice to floor and stop Louis. He was simply a better fighter than Marciano, beat better, younger, more virile opponents. It stacks in Joe's favor here.
Yes but all fighters have trouble timing left hooks. It is not the kind of punch that you see Louis getting caught with repeatedly. I think that a good right hand would be a better tool.
Joe was to a degree predictable, which is not to say he was a bad fighter or anything, just that a lot of his fight s fell in the same pattern. Of course up to foreman it was a winning formula but a large part of frazier winning techniques were due to the left hook. But marciano was I think at times unpredictable. I once read that in the ring u never quite knew what rocky was going to do and throw at u. He was apparently hard to hit and not just a face first slugger so with that I believe rocky. Not a easy fight for either rock or Louis
There's truth here but if Galento who was a slow puncher can tag Louis ,drop him and wobble him again, Frazier who was much faster should be able to.I'm not saying he beats Louis, just thinking aloud.
Frazier was a lot more urgent in attack than methodical Rocky,it's possible his extra speed would trouble Louis more.
QUOTE="Todd498, post: 18365991, member: 70863"]Marciano. Better chin, better two handed attack and hit harder[/QUOTE] These are his advantages, his disadvantages are slower hands and feet , a tendency to cut, and being 15lbs lighter..
I think to be honest either frazier or rock would probably give Joe most trouble out of all lineal champ s. The swarming hard punching style would work well against a prime Louis
Those giving him trouble would include: Dempsey Ali Lewis Liston Foreman He's not going 5-0-0 against that 5 ,if he goes 3-2-0 he would be doing very well.
