Will the winner of GGG vs Jacobs be the lineal champ?

We have a consensus #1 MW GGG (wbc/wba super/ibf/ibo) vs consensus #2 Jacobs (wba regular/paper). Will the winner be Lineal champ at 160?

 

Well it isn't Canelo, that's for sure.

 

It should be the GGG-Jacobs winner IMO. When Canelo decided to pursue a title at 154 lb the lineal title at 160 lb should've become vacant. And even if not then, Canelo hasn't fought at MW since 2015.

However, the best result for all is GGG and Canelo facing of in September.

 

We both know that won't happen though. Canelo will be rematching Chavez in september, so we will need to decide to whom shall the boxing world bestow the honors.

 

Jacobs doesn't even have a belt so is not no2, you GGG fans are so desperate its not a good look.

How does a paper belt matter? So what if BJS has the WBO. It comes down to resume. If you believe he has the better resume, then i can not argue much. But otherwise it´s a BS statement by you.

I just think that a lineal champ needs to be in the division, not fighting in a different division for more than a year.

If you don't rate Jacobs as #2, fine, but then it ought to stay vacant until BJS-GGG/Jacobs or Canelo-GGG/Jacobs.

It's the same logic when an undefeated fighter like Floyd retired, the lineal title at that weight becomes vacant until #1 and #2 fight. IMHO the same logic should apply when the lineal champ (Canelo) moves out of the division.

 

I hate it but Canelo is the lineal champ. He's not the division's number one fighter in my book but lineage is something that can only be lost in the ring.

The current lineage is a rotten as it comes though.

 

Of course he has a better resume, its not even close and a belt.

Jacobs ain't no2 and doesn't deserve to fight for lineal even if he is easily GGGs best win.

I'm one of his biggest critics but don't like it at all but don't think it can be declared vacant that easily. Especially when the guy claims to be planning to return to 160.

It dosen't matter if you or anybody else still considers him lineal he gave up the title by leaving the division
