How would the rock do against dempsey s opponents. Against willard Miske Carp Firpo Brennan Tunney Sharkey ???
Marciano blasts through all of them except for maybe Tunney and Willard. Tunney would likely be a problem stylistically for Marciano especially early on. Rocky would have to really pour it on late to get the win, which he could do. I can't pick a winner. I think Marciano would beat Willard too, but he'd do it in a lot more time than Dempsey and it could even go the distance. Dempsey really jumped all over him in what may have been his finest performance. Marciano lacked that edge in speed that Jack had, and imho that is what destroyed Willard. Having said this, Willard would be in ICU after a Marciano bout, he'd look like a road accident.
Willard just doesn't impress me. I think he'd be too slow to land anything big on Marciano and that his chin was hard enough to ship an unholy beating before the end came. Now if Willard managed to tie Rocky up and lean on him and maybe maul/smother him all night long he might get somewhere.
Can see rock hammering away at willard for a good few rounds. Jess would probably do his best to smother him, tie him up but as it goes on rock punches start to chip away and some where around the twelve willard finally falls.
It's hard to say because I've never seen Rocky against this kind of fighter. All I know is Rocky beat Shkor a former top ten ranked SHW. Would Rocky even be strong enough to get inside against Willard? It's the toughest matchup for him imo.
I to believe willard cos of his size and durability would make it awkward for rock. Willard would be clinging on to rock and can see him catching up with the upper cuts. But can see willard soaking it up till later rounds till rocky punches start to do there damage.
Well, Dempsey only weighed 5 pounds more, so I reckon he'd be strong enough. That said, I agree that Willard would be more problematic to Marciano than to Dempsey.
