yep wouldn't be surprised if Toney koed ggg either, a class above in skills also, would be a counter punching delight for toney as we know ggg isn't the best defensive boxer either, toney wins by ko in 8 rounds

Golovkin has yet to meet anyone in the ring at Toney's level. In many respects Golovkin is still after 8 years, an unknown as far as potential.
Still, with the limited opponents he's faced, it's clear to see his flaws and that he is a level below the Toney's and several levels below ATG SRR.

absolutely but even brook showed his loopholes, someone like ward would dominate golovkin and toney in his prime would have koed ggg easy

James Toney is one of boxing biggest enigmas. A guy who was born to fight, and fought like it was second nature. When he one "on", he was something of a marvel to watch. Unfortunately, his dedication wasn't there all the time.

Best version of Toney at MW, I think he beats 3G by decision (Which is what hypothetical matchups usually take, the best version of each)
Any other version of toney at MW, 3G UD.

    True.
Toney was a very frustrating boxer for his fans because he often didn't train correctly leading to close fights which he should have easily won.

However, I think that Toney really wanted the fights with Benn and Eubank and if they had happened Toney would have trained properly just to back up all the smack he talked. Plus, I really don't think he liked Eubank, at all.
Toney would have talked much smack to Golovkin and Golovkin probably would have been even more afraid than Benn and Eubank.

If he had Bernard Hopkins' level of dedication, I believe he'd have been one of the ten best fighters ever.

I loved the way he could fight and just stay relaxed the entire time. Even when he was up to Cruiser, he rarely seemed to breathe heavy late in fights.

Toney has a granite chin world class skills counter punching machine. A guy as easy to hit as ggg would get lit up against toney. Toney eats up guys like ggg. Toney by ud is the only logical pick here.

Toney was old school. He got fit by sparring not training in the tradition sense. Yes Toney could be
inconsistent but this was lack of motivation and weight problems. However he would see Golovkin
as a serious and very dangerous challenge. The Jones fight was anomaly with weight problems and
that was prime Jones and his style was wrong for JT. Golovkin would come straight at JT bombing
away with his seek and destroy mentality. This style is perfect for Toney 's counter and
masterful defence. Even when Golovkin lands a clean punch he was no Julian Jackson and Toney
would absorb the shots and counter making sure Golovkin does land accumulate bombs.
Golovkin iron chin and excellent stamina would mean there would be no knockout. After 12 rounds
Golovkin would be battered and bruise. Toney by unanimous decision.

James Toney is a god of boxing. He might actually last 11 rounds against Gennady before his roid enhanced body collapses under the body shots of the God Of War....

Wow, so you see the "flaws" in Golovkin, but the worse flaws in Toney count for nothing when he goes up against a smashing machine like GGG?

    Let's put it like this.

People picked the Gena that faced Murray and Ouma as "bad versions" ... yet he dominated both fights and won by KO.

Let me suggest that both MM and Ouma are better than Reggie Johnson (Toney W by SD after getting knocked on his ass in the 2nd) and Sanderline Williams 24-15 (Draw after Williams outworked him and arguably could have got the nod). Let's not forget Toney's fight with Dave Tiberi, who got robbed in a SD where there were calls for an investigation into boxing after it was discovered that the two judges that scored it for Toney weren't even licensed.

There are plenty more flaws to pick out in Toney than Golovkin, if you want to go that route.

Johnson, Williams and Tiberi weren't even belt holders and they went on to do nothing of consequence in boxing, yet JT struggled mightily with them. Not "struggled" and won by devastating KO as GGG did.

Even Ray Charles saw flaws in Little g against Monroe, B-level Murray and tiny Brook.
There is a very good reason why K2 works full time to keep Little g away from elite boxers.

    Don't be utterly stupid.

Golovkin challenged Canelo for his belt.

    Saul "

    " Alvarez VACATED.

Fact is so-called "Elite" fighters want nothing to do with him.

Fact is, for somebody so "flawed", nobody can exploit these alleged faults.
