Francisco Vargas vs. Miguel Berchelt & Takashi Miura vs. Miguel Román RBR

Vargas being sent out for the ninth despite big cuts on both upper eyelids, plus a pair of hematomas.

 

Sounds like the ref might stop this if Vargas doesn't take a round soon.

Berchelt is tagging Vargas with the right hand over the top and not letting him get into the fight. Vargas starting exchanges but losing them. Vargas clinches. Raul Caiz Jr. steps in and drags Vargas by the wrist over to the ring apron to have the physician inspect the cut. They allow it to go on. Berchelt starts ripping Vargas with lead rights, targeting his cut. Berchelt looking to force the issue. Vargas whips out a hook, taking a brave last stand but carrying himself off balance. More right hands from Berchelt. Vargas can't keep his feet solidly underneath him as he circles and blocks hard shots.

Round 10

Berchelt is again escorted by Caiz, immediately after answering the bell, for a powwow with the doctor. Again the ruling is that Vargas can compete since the blood isn't pouring directly into his eye, rerouted down the contours of his socket to streak down the side of his face instead. Time in. Vargas is pushing his jab and then hooking off it while left outstretched to joust at Berchelt. The slapping hooks are shrugged off and Berchelt is countering with hard body shots and 1-2s on the face. Berchelt nails Vargas with a plunging right as Vargas is coming up from ducking, and his head is sent recoiling several inches. Vargas diligently flurrying on the body, trying his best to claw his way back into this. Straight combo up top by Vargas, taking advantage of a resting lull from Berchelt. Jabs traded, both scoring at the same time - Berchelt's reaction is to just let his chin get pushed down into his chest, while Vargas' entire head is spun around jerkily as it has been so many times in the preceding half an hour.

Round 11

Berchelt is tiring but still in much better condition at present than Vargas. Berchelt is taking his time, casually toying with Vargas scoring jabs and clubbing rights as he roughhouses his way in close and keeps spanking Vargas below the elbows. BIG right hands fired off the hip by Berchelt, drilling Vargas into the ropes. Vargas starts to wobble, finally. Caiz jumps in.
