Ain't seen it but I expected Leo to be more conservative with his work rate and keep it rangey boxing long working everything from behind the jab I will give it a watch on holiday
Carls just didnt work like we know he can. There was little snap in his punches and when he got into mid and short range he was arm punching a lot. Lsc was a lot more effective at defending carls punches as well as countering. Makes you wander about some of the guys comments earlier about setting up a trilogy.
Froch is scoring rounds 10-10 now just to wind people up, isn't he? Surely. Four today -unsurprisingly all three judges managed to split the fighters in every round.
Well you were proved wrong. Santa Cruz fought a smart fight and controlled the distance at which it was fought ,time and again he landed his jab and right cross and Frampton was too often out of range, imo he should have gone inside when it became obvious his game was not working. I expected Frampton to win another dec but the best man won on the night, and now he knows how to beat Frampton I would pick him to do it again.
Frampton fought the wrong fight and failed to make adjustments. He should have stuck to feinting and countering, forcing LSC to lead off ...which worked well for him in the first fight. OR gone in the trenches and slugged it out at very close range with his shorter arms and greater power. He did neither. Shane wasn't great in the corner, to put it mildly. perhaps a more experienced man in the cornerCredit must go to Leo, though. It looked like he had a plan, had Carl figured out and he stuck to it. Has he Carl figured out for ever? Would he ever lose to Carl again? Is a rematch even advisable for Carl?
I think LSC figured him out from round 7 of first and he continued that on. 2 great fighters, I dislike Shane immensely but he can't go from great to awful in 12 rounds
frampton looked like **** last night. he was hitting air most of the time. also his hooks were slow and telegraphed and he got caught numerous times backing off after exiting a combo. very sloppy. imo he won 3-4 rounds at most.
Who says he went from great to awful. He DID have an awful 12 rounds though...when it mattered. Frampton blames himself but some good advise in the corner might have helped him, no?
He had trained for power and strength. Expected LSC to wanrpt a slugfest from bell1.Hence he was slow and sluggish ...all at sea when it turned out Leo planned to box clever. They'd prepared for the wrong Leo Santa Cruz! What he had ...bulk and power...would have dealt well with Leo n aloe t toe slugfest. But not a LSC that boxed clever....carl had lost the speed and sharpness to nip in and out like he did in the first fight.
