I've watched the fight about 50 times through the years and no pathetic sarcasm is going to change my point of view and if I was ever in any doubt about the evidence my own eyes saw I could always refer to the man himself Joe Louis who said he saw the openings but his reflexes were too eroded for him to take advantage of them. All you Rocky 8888 lickers refuse to believe the filmed evidence because you're terrified it reflects adversely on Marciano's victory. For the record it doesn't. Louis said his last good fight was against Mauriello ,"the last fight where I had my power and really felt myself".That was 5 years previously!

Of course not, but it don't mean they still did not lose to a very good fighter.

Shades of the professor, Mc, slow down, this thread asks what your feelings are about Marciano - Louis. I dont think anybody thought that was prime Louis. The saying, the last thing to go in a fighter is the power. Those three seconds towards the end of the first rd, show Louis still had some pop in that right hand. The evidence is clear that combo shook Marciano. I am not a Marciano lover. Marciano's victory was not of the "yay I won" type, more like he had to do what he had to do variety. But give Marciano's strategy some credit, he took away any chance Louis had or thought he had, I dont think anybody even Marciano thought it was a big victory. Louis for whatever reason took the fight and did the best he could. If he was the betting favorite then others thought he had some kind of shot at that time. It really was a hollow victory for Marciano.

LOL, Louis was an old and confused man at that point in time. He's talking jibberish. This is what you are going on? Seriously? Take note, NOWHERE does Louis say he would win in that quote.

A much better source is after the fight when Louis had his marbles. To parphrase a bit he said he could never beat Marciano, as it was a styles type of thing and his weakness ( his words not mine ) is he did not like to be crowded. In addition Louis had fits with fighters who got low or fought out of a crouch.

Maybe that's because Marciano and Charles were among the very best he fought, and Bivins didn't exactly belong in a bum of the month club~

So part of it was due to his age, the other side of the equation was better competition! Brion for his part was a tough customer, only stopped once in his career post-Joe Louis. But Louis had him hurt from round 7-10. Had this been 12 or 15, I think Brion gets stopped.

Dont mean to be arguementive but nobody said he was the bomber of old. "Old Joe" was there cos of the pay, Marciano was there cos Joe was in the way.

Who says he was an old and confused man? You? He was 52 years old! I have the quote, you purposely misquoted it to further tear down Louis which you have a long and detailed history of doing,[from accusing him of fouling Schmeling to having crooked judges and referees to protect him,] and boost white Marciano.
LOUIS NEVER SAID I COULD NEVER HAVE BEATEN MARCIANO.
I know it and you know it the difference is I'm honest and you're a liar.
If you want to dispute this ;
PRODUCE A PRIMARY SOURCED THAT PROVES HE SAID THAT, "QUOTE".
PUT UP OR SHUT UP!

I don't think he shook Marciano ,and Marciano never mentioned the punch subsequently, he only commented on being forced to take the jabs.

Well, the proof is in the pudding, maybe you should watch it again, just the last :30sec of the 1st rd. If you can honestly say that that combo and mainly the right had nothing on it, well then that's your opinion. My opinion is the punch made an impact on Marciano. Like the Johnson KD, by Ketchel, something made Marciano react the way he did, both by getting rocked and coming back with his own cruncher. It's all there to be seen, slow it up if its too fast for you to catch, the punch had some power to it. Louis still had power even then, that he only scored 3 ko's in those last 8 means nothing, could he have stopped some of these guys when he was prime? Perhaps. Only one of those 8 fights was against a gimme, the rest were durable journeyman. Remember he was working his way back in. Both deserve credit for taking the fight though for Marciano it was a hollow victory. Mc fighters dont go over every punch they get hit with, the jab was bothersome yes, that right did rock him, watch the tape, it was a right hand and if you watch Marciano's face when getting hit you would see he had something on it. Also if you will Marciano's defense made it difficult to for Louis to land the right effectively, he threw plenty of right hands inside, in the form of uppercuts.

I SAY he was old and confused. The Murray Woroner tournament, which you quote Louis happened in the 1960's.

Read below and learn for a change, okay!

Another source, if you watch Louis doc, American's hero betrayed his son flat out says Louis had mental issues and would think people were listing to him, which they were not. Unscrewing light bulbs, and such. Louis post boxing was a broken man, wrestling ( which he was horrible at ) and later greeting people in Las Vegas. My father, a boxing fan meet both Louis and Liston in the 1960's and early 1970's.

Louis he said was slow mentally. Infact I think Louis himself tested poorly academically speaking. Liston on the other had a dangerous look of a person you give space to, and a handshake like a vice.

>>>Starting in the 1960s, Louis was frequently mocked by segments of the African-American community (including Muhammad Ali) for being an "Uncle Tom."[92]

Drugs took a toll on Louis in his later years. In 1969, he was hospitalized after collapsing on a New York City street. While the incident was at first credited to "physical breakdown,"[88] underlying problems would soon surface. In 1970, he spent five months at the Colorado Psychiatric Hospital and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Denver, hospitalized by his wife, Martha, and his son, Joe Louis Barrow Jr., for paranoia.[88] In a 1971 book, Brown Bomber, by Barney Nagler, Louis disclosed the truth about these incidents, stating that his collapse in 1969 had been caused by cocaine, and that his subsequent hospitalization had been prompted by his fear of a plot to destroy him.[88] Strokes and heart ailments caused Louis's condition to deteriorate further later in the decade. He had surgery to correct an aortic aneurysm in 1977 and thereafter used an POV/scooter for a mobility aid.[15][93]

Louis died of cardiac arrest in Desert Springs Hospital near Las Vegas on April 12, 1981, just hours after his last public appearance viewing the Larry Holmes–Trevor Berbick Heavyweight Championship. Ronald Reagan waived the eligibility rules for burial at Arlington National Cemetery and Louis was buried there with full military honors on April 21, 1981.[94][95] His funeral was paid for in part by former competitor and friend, Max Schmeling,[96] who also acted as a pallbearer

So your are wrong here! He was old and confused.

Now for the, I could not beat Rocky comment! Our very own Matt McGrain did mentioned that quote. Argue with him, he'll set you straight or at least give the information you don't seem to process well.

" If I had a bad weakness that I kept and hid throughout my career. I didn't like to be crowded and Marciano always crowded his opponents. that's why I say I could never have Beaten him - Joe Louis "

There's your soruce. BOOM AGAIN.

The real quote that I posted was made when Louis was 52 years old, he wasn't "old and confused ". McGrain won't set me straight on it at all and neither will you!
As late as 1974 Louis refereed the Quarry v Frazier fight!

No primary source from you and there won't be! So now. SHUT UP!

Maybe that's the problem try the youtube version you can slo mo it and there you can clearly see that combo and especially that right hand that clearly shows without a doubt that Marciano was hit and hit hard by Louis rocking him. Forget super 8 go to the vid on youtube.
