yes. much worse that the championship belt was taken. the most that ward could have gotten was a draw while the max that kovalev would have taken was a very close decision win and minimum is a draw.

Absolutely. Ward knows he got a gift too. He was coming in with his noggin all night trying to carve up Sergey's face machete style and many of those body shots he was landing on the inside were low. Robert Byrd and the judges were both on someone's payroll they shouldn't have been. Word on the street is Robert Byrd drinks James Prince's sperm straight from the source. Don't tell anyone you heard me say that though.

1,2(10/8),3, 5, 6or7, in which he almost ripped Dre's ear off, 10 and 12. 7 rds to 5 plus the KD.

TBPH????????? I didnt think Ward would have survived the first half the fight and didnt think the judges would be called upon unless a cut was caused from billygoating.

Wrong decision but not some egregious robbery. Happens in boxing.

I see there are 286 voters who DKSAB, lol. I have no problem with anyone who thinks Kovalev won. it was a CLOSE fight. If you thought this was a robbery though, you should probably go watch tennis or golf or something. lol

    Back from my ban bet.

Just want to reiterate that Kovalev won that 7-5 plus the KD.

If Ward ever takes the rematch, Sergey stops him.

    That is all.

After watching the fight again for the 5th time... I gotta say I STILL think Kovalev won :beer-toast1:  And the majority of polls on this subject seem to have the same outcome as this one :D I know, I know... the VAST MAJORITY DKSAB right?? Lol!

NEVER FORGET who the true 175lb champ is. Sergey Kovalev

I am not going to say if I think it was a robbery until I really sit down to rewatch the fight closely. But....

The Challenger was backed up throughout the fight, threw less punches than the champ, landed less punches than the champ, and to top it off.... was knocked down in the process. And yet, he 'dethroned' the champion.

To put it another way, Kova outhustled Ward in 11 of the 12 rounds, and out of those 11 rounds in which he was pushing the fight and throwing more punches.... he landed more punches in 6 of those rounds, that means that people would have to give a round in which the champion is coming forward, throwing more punches and actually landing more punches, and score that round for the challenger (again, scoring the round in which he was outthrown and outlanded in, to him).

Again, on top of all that, throw a knockdown on top of it.... and its hard for me to not say this was a robbery.

    That being said

    - I have still only seen the fight once
    - Punchstats are not infallible
    - Punchstats are not the be all end all to scoring a round or fight

However, I do owe it a reviewing.... probably will never get around to it lol, but I wont call it a flat out robbery until I really analyse it round by round and score it accordingly.

I had Kovalev ahead by 3 points. This fight showed precisely why Ward only fights in the states - the safety net of home judges and ref has made him psychologically dependent.

Harold Lederman had Kovalev winning the fight 116 - 111, I had Kovalev winning also, not even close. This is boxing, not wrestling. SOB is afraid to fight Kovalev again, even with the rematch clause..............Ward got his dirty arse beaten and Kovalev will knock the piece of fecal matter out in a rematch, flush SOB down the toilet and back into the sewer from which he came!
