Calzaghe may win a couple of rounds simply because of workrate, but his punches has no power to keep Hagler away. Hagler finishes him sooner or later... if Calzaghe was floored instantly by old Hopkins and shot RJJ, I have no doubts prime Hagler would KO/TKO him eventually.

Its not really fair for the catchweight to be 164. Hagler never wanted leonard at 154 so we have to say marvin should fight at 168 to be consistent.
Joe C would beat hagler over 12 or 15. The speed, footwork, punch output, size, stamina, adaptability and chin of calzaghe sees him through to a clear points decision. As great a middle as marvin is he gets clearly outpointed here. Marvin has never fought a guy with these skills who is also considerably bigger than him as well. He cant outlast him ala duran, cant jump on him for the stoppage like hearns, nor can he try to close the gap after a slow start like leonard.
Joe C will go down as the years go by as the greatest modern 168er and a superb 175 er.(i know its sacriledge, but this guy is the closest we can imagine what Greb was possibly like.)

hagler would be a terrifying prospect for cowardzaghe if a mere boderline elite like kessler was too much (until kessler got injured, then joe sudenly got brave enough to invte him to his wales backyard).

but if you put a gun to his head or suspend his cowke bag above the toilet to make him fight then joe would get destoryed by hagleronce marvin got used to fighting southpaw again. joe has neither the defence to deal with marvin, nor the chin to last the whole 12 rounds.

Hagler by decision. Calzaghe won't be hard to find and Hagler is stronger and has a bigger punch. His stamina is elite and he can match Calzaghe in that department. He's more versatile, being able to box or punch equally well.

Hard to say. I like Calzaghe on points, but fans might not like how he wins.

Hagler I think needs a KO, and to press the action much sooner than he often did.

Calzaghe is a fighter that nobody in the same weight class would ever have had an easy time with.

The catch weight of 164 pounds probably gives it to Hagler.

Hagler spent his early years at Newark NJ. Following race riots in 1967 Haglers move to Brockton
Massachusetts. This is why Hagler was most vicious against white fighters . His butchering of
Alan Minter and his peak clinical destuction of Tony Sibson. AM had provoked Hagler by saying
    '' I won't let blackman become champion '' and Hagler said " I don't touch white flesh "
Calzgahe would never say this but press if this fight was fought in earlier 80's would turn this
into white vs black. I am not racist my favorite fighters are Hagler , Louis, Dempsey , Marciano.
Just calling it if this fight was fought in different era.
Under normal circumstances JC would be a handle for Hagler with slick movement and high
workrate but a angry very motivated for Hagler would be too much for JC. Hagler by tko
    in 9 rounds.
Later Hagler and Minter did some fence mending. Hagler said that his non hand shaking was
non racial he never shaked hands with future opponents . Hagler was telling truth he had
white trainers and later married a Italian lady. Its was just the era he fought in.
Minter said he did it for hype for the fight and was angered by Hagler's refusal to shake hands
as the two were introduced in Las Vegas at Antuofermo draw. Which is fair enough Hagler
could be prickly and Minter was caught up in the hype by patriotic fans at the time.

I'll take Calzaghe. Leonard won doing a poor man's impersonation of Joe

If Calzaghe makes the weight comfortably I think that he might well outwork Hagler for a points win, because he was always so damn busy. Calzaghe had a great chin and the extra weight works in his favour here.

I think Hagler was more versatile and had the better chin, and better power too especially if we are talking about older Calzaghe. The question is would this make any difference in the face of Joe's whirlwind assault, if Joe can take his punch?

If Joe is drained at the weight, I could see a late Hagler stoppage, must add.

Have to go with Marvin here, but it would be no easy task.

no leonard did not win by being easy to hit and throwing lots of weak inaccurate punches. he won by being accurate, being a defensive master and and having enough snap to keep hagler wise.

Furthermore he went up against the most feared man in boxing.

Leonard was the exact opposite of joe cowardzaghe,
