In every photo I see of them standing together Wlad looks relaxed and comfortable and AJ looks like he's trying to make himself look bigger than he is. He's the smaller guy and I think that bothers him, perhaps he feels a bit insecure around him. Probably doesn't mean much but it's just an observation.
He has been the bigger guy for most of his fights and just KO's picked opponents. Smaller more skilled guys outboxed him in ams multiple times...Wlad will outbox him but also could KO him. AJ will look bigger with Wlad bending down working off his jab. AJ upright as usual looking like a stiff idiot.
its a very big fight for joshua / for wlad at about 60 plus fights /seen it /done it /got the t shirt you lose your nerves with time and experience and wlads being doing this for over 20 years. to use an anology joshua is in his first year in the job where wlads been the top manager for 10 years
To be honest I noticed the exact same thing. I think its natural for an intelligent young guy to maybe feel less than his usual self when having such a big step up in class and size of event, and when going up against someone like Wlad who is considered a great fighter and has been someone that AJ has looked up to (for lack of a better term) over the years. Its a huge step up for AJ. It wont mean anything by round 3 of their fight... but its definitely something I noticed. I dont think much of it one way or another, hes young and this is a new experience for him in an event of this size and an opponent of this calibre. The most decorated and celebrated opponent he will likely ever face in his career.
No one beats AJ. Not now. Who knows what talent in the future appears but right now there is no one and definetly not Wladimir.
The test of a mind isnt 'did they ever feel insecure' as much as its 'how did they respond when they felt insecure' The first couple rounds should tell a lot, and will be very interesting psychologically speaking.
Someone above mentioned Bruno in the build-up to the 2nd Tyson fight. I thought he looked super pumped all the way through and right up until the moment he did his ring walk... when he suddenly took of the demeanor of the condemned man on the way to the gallows. Re: Wlad vs AJ, we will only really know who has won the battle of the minds on fight night...
If AJ comes out aggressive trying to hurt Wlad he'll take him out, if AJ comes out and try to box he'll lose a dec... I hope AJ comes out hard&fast and KO Wlad in the first couple of rds, pls AJ, pls do it!
