Last I heard is that he wanted 4 fights a year.

But to keep that rate up he's going to have to fight a lot of cans. The big fights seem to be damn hard to put together quickly.

its still barely enough time. 3 years at top at max, probably less due to his style reliant on a a good chin and forcing trading.

hes not in double figures yet, though admittedly 7 in about 2 years is a step in the right direction. This means he needs another 4 years to match Hopkins. Its barely enough without being a serious longevity champ - which remains to be seen.

Unfortunately I think that you are right. His shelf life is limited to about 3 years. I don't think we'll see a sharp decline, since his style isn't really about speed, but his legs are going to give sooner or later, and if he's footwork is gone, then he's done for.

Next year Golovkin will pull a Calzaghe and probably call out BHOP at 168.

    BHOP will be 54 so I say it's a 50/50 fight.

When he claims the title from Jacobs and Saunders, That has been his mission for a long time and now it is within sight. He needs to win against both champions before talk of going up can happen.

Then of course there is the Canelo factor. Everybody would love to see that fight. The purse split would have to be reasonable and fair. Saying Canelo is the A side is a moot point that is not shared by GGG's team. a 70/30 is ludicrous when the one getting the 30% is the undisputed unified middleweight champion of the world. If the split was going to be that lopsided GGG and his team will move on and climb other mountains rather than be played with.

no he doesnt need to fight jacobs, who hasnt got a world title.
saunders is neither a monetary draw nor an elite challenge. hes barely world class.
these are not reasons to stay.

then he should hav moved on long ago, the negotiation started long ago.

however thats all only if he wants to move up, hes under no obligation to do so in my view.

Golovkin beats Toney by UD. The former has a granite chin too and he's faster than the latter.

Agree with everything you said, however with great talent and potential, come together with a bit of responsibility. As a fan we demand a super fight. At least we want to see him pushing the limit. That's how great fighter were remember for.

Depends on what version of James shows up. If you're talking about an in-shape and completely focused version of Toney, than he's an impressively tough out for anyone H2H at MW. He had good power in both hands, a terrific chin, excellent defense and just a technically brilliant boxer with his combinations and counterpunching ability.

I'd favor Toney because I see this fight more than likely playing out inside the pocket for the most part. While I think Gennady is a terrific fighter in his own right, Toney is one of the best inside fighters I've seen since the 80's. I think he'd do the better work on the inside while making Golovkin miss more often than he usually does.

Once again, this is all predicated on the best version of "Lights Out" showing up.

Actually, even the worst James Toney beats everyone on Golovkin's resume.
Even the worst James Toney is better than anyone Golovkin has ever faced.
