I refuse to believe he was serious. He's given me enough evidence throughout his career to suggest he wasn't. You're not a valid reporter of information, either.

Isnt this kind of talk drastically premature at this point? You guys are acting like hes setting up his second or third easy defense in a row...

The kids been champ for less than a freaking month lol... and has yet to announce his next opponent. holding the belt hostage? Come on... lol.

Given the comments of himself and TMT, he is going to be gaining experience against lesser opponents whilst keeping hold of the belt. Gaining experience means his second or third easy defense in a row, technically..at very least to make it worse. That's my point.

Then who the hell do you want him to fight then?
If he beats them then he's ready to face top 8 guys gannicus has listed.

People say a lot of things. Its what happens in the ring that should count. The kids been champ for less than a month and people are talking about how hes holding the belt hostage. Ill join the criticism if he hasn't fought a top 5 guy by his third defense, but at this point this kind of reaction seems very overblown. Just imo.

Belts. Plural. Back in the day when there was one world champ, I'd have more sympathy with what you say. But in an age of four world titles, becoming a champ carries a lower obligation because titles lack exclusivity, as there are three other titles up for grabs. Also, with four governing bodies running the sport, the difficulty in making fights goes up exponentially; fighters are taken down certain routes and networks have their input as well as rival promoters protecting their assets.

Boxing is a right mess and not the nirvana which would dictate as soon as a boxer becomes a world champion they have to take on all-comers - sometimes it's not even possible for the reasons outlined above. Few fighters do, not anymore. So why highlight a 22-year-old, two weeks into his reign and slam him for having a management team which is only doing what all the others do, with a few notable exceptions to the norm, of course?

There are so many better targets to make this point. I'm a big Brook fan but he's a way better candidate through which to make your case but you hang your argument round the neck of a near novice, who has not even had one defense as yet.

Valid point, maybe. Wrong target... without a doubt.

Just because I think he beats them doesn't mean I don't want to see the fight.

    Gervonta Davis vs Tevin Farmer

Now that'd be a very interesting fight to be made next.

We're only saying that because he's been indicating that himself. It remains to be seen if he will have the balls to fight a top 5 let alone top 8 guy in his third defence.

Of cousre you don't. You never give the guy the benefit of the doubt with anything. Here's a guy who went through 5 weight classes fought Chico Genaro Hernandez and JLC but didn't want to fight Oscar who would have been a career high pay day for him back when he was at 135 for someone who's as driven by money as PBF? Do you realize how ridiculous you sound?

Yeah it's an awful situation but the goal of the other champs in the division is to unify the belts. We have a rare setting where they actually want to unify and fight eachother. Gervonta could potentially plague this division of warriors.
If taking a more historical view, I'd have to see IBF from this division as a contender belt. He's number 4 in line and needs to fight the others who hold the contender belts next or else forfeit his position and fight the lesser men.

Two wrongs don't make a right. The buck can't be passed and excuses must not be made, everyone is responsible - how TMT and Gervonta are dealing with it is not the necessary condition. Look at Sullivan Barrera for example, he's going from Ward to Shabberz to Beterbiev.

I have had my fair share of words regarding Brook, incidentally lol.

Boxing fans remind me of Christians. Christians allowed their religion to be mocked and just accepted it, now it's normal and quite a cool thing to see a crucifix in adult themed music videos. Boxing fans are allowing themselves to be trampled on and are eating it all up.
