James Toney Vs Gennady Golovkin at MW. Who you got?

I wasn't discrediting what Gennady has done at all, I think he's a helluva fighter. I was just making mention of the idea that Toney could've went through Golvokin's resume without a problem.

I don't know why people compare Golovkin's situation to Hagler. Marvin took on everyone at MW, literally all the top rated guys and granted his biggest wins were against two former WW's, but those two WW's are considered top 3 of all time at 147 lbs, were very large WW's that won titles up to LHW (Leonard,) and Cruiserweight (Hearns.) They're very much exceptions to the rule when talking about smaller guys moving up in weight since neither man was that small as they ascended up the weight classes.

Hagler beat some tough dudes that I guess people forget about because they're not household names. Hamsho was a top rated undefeated MW when he met Hagler (they had 2 fights,) his fight with a top rate Mugabi was a war. He also holds wins against guys like Minter and got his revenge win against a top flight MW in Antefeurmo (although anyone who saw their fights know Marvin went 2-0 in that series.)

Anyway I'm a big fan of Golovkin and was is no way discrediting what he's done up to this point in his career. He's looked like a monster and at this stage in his career, I think people are curious to how great he is and want to see him in with guys that can actually compete with him.

 

Sorry its easy to roll everyones conceptions in to one post.not that u as 1 are disrespecting him so to speak.
But even giving him credit for losing against leonard,who in the previous fight was **** poor,retired for what 3-4 years then lost.
He gets credit for fighting tough guys,minter was a poor champion,and far from forgetting fights against the likes of mugabi,sibson,hamsho and so on.people make out theyre all this and that,mugabi was wiped out more than once not long after hagler,and beat no one of note b4 to suggest he was this beast.people say he gave duran too much respect... why is this even viable ? He's in the ring,he does or he doesnt do things because of whats coming back at him.
Tyson was an amazing fighter,off topic,he won in a manner that suggested in his day he would beat anyone ever.he fell off the rails,people ignore the fact he declined monumentally and make him out to be a so so fighter.holmes was past it when tyson obliterated him,yet when holyfield went life and death with him about 5 years later,he wasnt past it.
Joe louis fought abysmal at best opposition,yet he's held in the top 2 hw of all time,yet make that point,plus the fact he was obviously a plodder,people make out he had this amazing speed and power,that obviously would have lasted him about 30 seconds in the ring with tyson then its laughable,blasphemy even.
Jimmy wilde,top 10 atg for many,who the fck did he fight.robinson even,as great as he is,200 and odd fights mainly eins,point out that 90% of the fighters he fought it would be illegal today.
Even dare compare pac of today to him and its not even a debate,doesnt matter that every single fight he fought going up in 8 weight classes wer against champions hall of famer after hall of famer,its blasphemy.
Its about perspective,golovkin would be a match for anyone,any era and 9 times out of 10 he'd win,same with pac,same with tyson,but it doesnt fit in with the nostalgia and what is preached by the "experts"

 

Pre-fight "smack talk" really scares Golovkin. Last time somebody did it, they earned an epic beatdown. Ask Stevens how well it worked out for him

Nunn and Eubank were totally unimpressed with him.

Stevens had the guts to say his schit to Golovkin while SITTING NEXT TO HIM. And then Golovkin did HIS talking in the ring, to the extent that he chased both Stevens and his leopard-print momma outta the arena.

There is only ONE WORLD, and therefore the WBA only offer ONE world title, and thats Golovkins already.

Jacobs is not a a champion AT ALL, its a fake title for suckers. Why cant you see this? If the WBA start a tertiary world title up are you going to fall for that too and go pay them more of your money to see it??

In the case of Saunders yes ok, he has the wbo one, but hes a nobody who barely scrayped past Britlevel Eubank.

 

I am not inferring 3G is a drug cheat, but you cant act on a lack of a positive in the same way you cant act on a negative.

Maybe you ought to, um, watch the fight sometime, it was a good one.

Toney was wearing him down and setting traps. Loosing on points sure but Hardly having his head boxed off. Think of the styles, was always going to be a long game for toney.
Toney was all that, best pure boxer I've ever seen.

From what i saw in the Ouma fight , Nunn would box Golokvins ears off as well. No doubt about it. Maybe GGG pulls a stoppage out late , maybe he doesn't.
