whether one thinks ward won or lost, everyone must admit he took far more punishment than ever before. what he is proving now is that he is very reluctant to take that punishment again.

 

I'm pretty sure that during the fight Lederman kept whining that Ward was holding excessively, but was corrected by Roy Jones that it was Kovalev doing all the holding and wrestling whenever Ward got inside.
Watch the fight again and count how many times Kovalev put Ward in a head illegal lock. Yeah, I'm sure you'll say it was to prevent head butts, but that's baloney. It was to stop Ward's tried and true inside work. Kov didn't want none of that.

 

Not a big fan of Ward, but this was a good interview. I still think he lost that fight, but a robbery it was not. I hope he follows through with the rematch and we can clear all doubt.

 

Oh I've no doubt and actually that's where Kovalev lost that fight as he got sucked into that and was talking about tit for tat before the fight,he should of punched his way out of those situations where possible.

 

You're right but it does go both ways - although the examples you provide are definitely more plentiful - with people coming up with nonsense like defending Wilder's opposition whilst simultaneously condemning Golovkin's every move.

And for what it's worth, I can't stand Povetkin. He's a disgrace to the sport. Oh and Kovalev clearly beat Ward.

I'm genuinely amazed anyone can be bothered to defend him now he's been totally exposed. Him celebrating a roiled up KO win against a literally last second, unprepared jet lagged opponent like he'd just scored a great win was disgraceful. Seriously **** that guy.

Yeah I have a lot of respect for Wards fans/supporters. They have been so honest ever since the fight ended and have flatout admitted Ward lost the fight.

Now its the other 50% thats needs to keep it 100 and admit the truth .

 

Kovalev faded in the late rnds and still was getting the best of Ward at times .

Just watched Ward with UK fans, away from the build up to a fight he has a great personality. He comes across as a genuine guy, the Brits will love him!
