Well then, Hughie Fury has to travel to New Zealand to fight Joseph Parker on april 1st. Not really surprised by this. http://www.skysports.com/boxing/new...bo-title-fight-against-joseph-parker-in-april A big ask for Hughie now. Is it just me that thinks he will pull out with some poor excuse so he doesnt have to travel to New Zealand?... Thoughts,
God damn Warren is useless. You would think for the sake forr 200k extra he would have won the bid so they could have the fight here. Having said that I am surprised the purses are so big, well over a million for both fighters seems very large for a non-ppv fight. They are both getting more than DeGale/Jack and also Frampton/Santa Cruz.
Parker is pay per view. Hughie Fury is not. Thats why the fights in NZ bigger purse for both fighters. *Parker v Ruiz was £35
They are closed bids, it's not an auction. If FW had bid over $3million i cant see how he'd have got that money back. Good payday for hughie for a very winnable fight
I'm expecting it to be a lot like the Ruiz Jr fight, Fury will be hard to look good against but I suspect Parker has that extra bit of quality and will win a close decision.
Warren would have been mad to outbid them. Hughie is a traveller so unfortunately the public won't get behind him until he does something magnificent in the ring. Look at BJS and Tyson, had to do it the hard way and still don't get the respect they deserve. Warren wouldn't have made money.
Thinking it will be closer in NZ but fancy Fury to win it, looks to have big advantage in boxing IQ and footwork and if he is genuinely over his illness and has extra power i would fancy him to win.
Physically hughie looks like a different person all together now his skins cleared up. Im expecting to see a good performance against parker
If we are being honest here both fighters are the luckiest men around to get that kind of purse. Good luck to them both. Warren didn't want to win the bid in my opinion but he's made Hughie a lot of money in doing so. In my opinion these fighters beat them both: AJ Klitchko Haye Wilder Ortiz Pulev Whyte/Chisora? 50:50! So this is a Disney title as far as I'm concerned.
I can't criticise Parker at all, he's worked hard to get where he has and had taken on all comers. He hasn't just had big fights handed to him on a plate. His recent run of opponents is the best in the HW division. Can't take that away from him and he deserves the payday, not luck.
I wouldn't say any of the top fighters have had it hard getting to the top but I'm judging on ability and I see both of them losing to my list so £1m is a big payday for a 7/8 ranked fighter.
