Ok , so Norton from Battle of the broken jaw fight vs Larry holmes from the first spinks fight. Ken Norton a relatively unknown fighter comes in a massive underdog against Ali and gets a split decision win while breaking ali jaw in doing so. Tough, young and hungry this Norton. Holmes version is close to tying marciano record but lost a unanimous Dec to spinks. In 78 the younger holmes beat Norton by a split decision in one of greatest heavy weight title fights ever. With the roles reverse can a young Norton go one better and defeat the ageing Holmes? Or would Larry always win against Ken?
Yep. Holmes was aged and declined and also took Spinks very lightly. In the rematch he was at least motivated and in the best shape he was going to be in at that age and really should have got the nod. I think Norton beats the Holmes of the first fight easily and beats the Holmes of the rematch comfortably. The thing is the best version of Norton should be matched with the best version of Holmes. A quite ancient version of Norton gave a soon to be at his peak Holmes a great fight. These two peak are an extremely close match. Norton isn't in the class of Holmes and Ali as a fighter but he possessed the stylistic tools, stamina and determination to give a post exile Ali and peak Holmes absolute hell.
