Funny how all the Wilder detractors were crying about how he was going to fight another drug cheat.

He went there before he was busted though

Be a different situation with Ortz though as the Ped bust came after he traveled to Russia would he have fought him if he already knew of the doping prior ?

I like his stance on it I have zero tolerance on PED cheats personally I think life ban for them is only way to go.

I am not a hater of Wilder but even his most die hard fans must admit his run of fights has been awful, not sure how the GGG comparison fits given that those where Mandos and Wilder has been on the longest run of voluntaries I have ever seen he picked these tomato cans.

I agree though GGG resume is pretty thin he needs to step up in weight and stop hanging around for Canelo

Wilder needs to step up as he is winning no fans fighting in Alabama against fighters that are not top 10 fighters !

Didnt realize Pulev just literally fought 2 months ago too. You really think he's going to get back in there 2 months later on 3 week notice? Washington was a very solid choice on short notice. So none of the names you listed work out realistically.

You've really embarrassed yourself here Ellerbe. Even if they didn't know about Wach's previous infringements- unlikely IMHO - then they still deserve stick for being stupid enough to go around mouthing off about how drugs cheats like Ortiz aren't going to ever get a shot at his belt because of their dodgy past only to then suggest a weaker fighter with a chequered history on that front is being considered.

At best they're unprofessional and look like fools, at worse they look afraid of anyone seen as a legitimately world class operator by the boxing community.

You call these guys "tomato cans", but what are GGG's opponents besides Lemieux and Murray? I'd rate stiverne around the same level as Lemieux and Murray, and the rest of his opponents are basically Duhapaus, Malik Scott level like Willie Monroe, Adama, Rubio etc. GGG's resume is utterly pathetic, and unlike Wilder he can actually move up.

I don't really understand what you mean by this "Be a different situation with Ortz though as the Ped bust came after he traveled to Russia would he have fought him if he already knew of the doping prior ?".

Ortiz has been busted for Peds prior to Wilder travelling to Russia to my knowledge Povetkin had not been busted.

Again not sure why you are making a comparison to GGG thise where mandos not Voluntaries ?

I agree GGG resume is weak but thats not who we are discussing

    Jesus wept.

The other thing you're missing is that Wazisname should never have been in line to have a crack at Wilder's title anyway which would have then given him plenty of time to face a top tier opponent. You guys act like he only had a few weeks to find someone, which he did when he signed Washington but let's not act like he couldn't of got someone better in to start with.

Can you show me a link where it said that someone from Wilder's team mentioned this, and it's not just a rumor. Sure they deserve some flack for not being informed if Wilder's team actually directly mentioned this, but if you guys waited a couple days the official opponent would have been released. Facts are most of you wouldn't a peep a word if it wasn't Wilder.

Were all of GGG's fights mandos? Does GGG only fight mandos? Was Brook a mando?

Well if Ortiz is his mando, I doubt he'll drop the belt, and I don't think he should be called a hypocrite since it's his belt on the line. If he hand picked him then that's another thing.

Who else was available? Chisora/Whyte/Pulev fought in Dec, Takam fought in January, all of the other top guys are fighting each other. Povetkin is a drug cheat, and fighting Ortiz after saying what he did would be hypocritical.

Well I'm not sure who you're directing that at but I can assure you if any other heavyweight said no to Ortiz for his past as a drugs cheat - a legit stance in many ways- only to then put forward another weaker, former drugs cheat as an opponent I'd give them plenty of heat for it as it's clearly not about drugs at that point it's about ducking a certain opponent.

I'm still waiting for a link LMAO. If Wilder's team DIRECTLY mentioned Wach as a possible opponent and these were not just rumors, sure they deserve some flack for not being informed. But at the end of the day, they did not contradict themselves and fought one of the best available opponents.

Btw, Wach was cleared in 2015, and in 2012 the only person that claimed Wach tested positive was Wlad's manager. Whereas the NSAC reported Ortiz as testing positive. 2 different situations.

That's the other Wilder special isn't it, schedule fights at inopportune times to make sure his schedule doesn't match up with anyone else's and he can then use that as another excuse as to why fights X, Y and Z weren't made.
