Ah ah I haven't singled out johnson. Relax Herol. But I do believe he was knocked down by ketchel so that's why I started the thread....

Kingfisher. At last some one who's actually got eyes. Thought I was dreaming the knockdown! In some people's eyes its an impossible scenario!

it's johnson's feet moving before the punch lands that really makes me think that. I don't dispute that it landed. but it's not exactly hd film, so I won't die on my opinion.

edit I just watched it again a few times, I still can't really say. I see Johnson rolling with the punch and lifting his leg(closest to camera) in order to fall.

What I don't get is.. And it's some thing that sure certain people will think of something.. Is why Jack went down if he wasn't hit and at least stunned. Obviously the punch was hard enough to score a kd. But some people argue that no one could do that to jack if he's just a middle weight!! So if ketchel had been lucky enough that day he could possibly have knocked him out. It's certainly not impossible.

I couldn't say for definite if it is a throw down or genuine. What would his purpose be though to go down, get back up then ko ketchel. Im leaning towards Jack been caught out and ketchel was no feather fist either

I've seen people say it would boost film sales.

my honest conclusion on that fight, and I've looked into it on a few different occasions, is that I don't know what was up, if anything at all. when I watch it I think Johnson carries him, then goes down on purpose, then ko's him easily.

As stated Fergy, Johnson (and it can be seen on film) is already going DOWN before the punch lands. Why would he be going down before it lands, if the punch legitimately landed? Further, even besides the obviousness of Johnson going down before the punch lands, the punch appears to barely even land, if at all. Who put Johnson down during his reign or even before? How many times did McVey put him down... or Jeanette... or Langford.. or Jeffries... or Hart... or Burns.. or Jim Johnson. The answer is, they really didn't. Yet, I'm supposed to believe that a MW (would could whack mind you) was able to with a punch that barely even appears to land? That is a huge leap for me to take, too big of a leap. Further, as mentioned previously, you ask why would he do that, and the answer is simple... for money. Johnson owned a percentage of the movie rights to the film. The more it sold or was viewed the more he got. Would people be more willing to see a fight where a white guy actually put down Johnson and could've won... or a fight where Johnson dispatches his foe with the utmost ease? Seems easy to see why he would, and his friend also believed it was a faked KD.

Let's say for a second it wasn't, and it was real, it's further thrown out because Johnson allowed that to happen. If Johnson is trying, he dispatches him in a round. He was literally shown holding him up and carrying him. Literally and figuratively. So if true, that Johnson KD was with a Johnson half trying, not akin to a full powered Johnson. No matter how you look at is, the KD doesn't carry much weight, and frankly, it carries none for me.

I read some place that ketchel tricked him, suckered him from out of the blue with a sneak punch. But suppose it's one of those things that get told and it's like Chinese whisper s, so u never actually find out the truth.

I'm genuinely curious Fergy, does that KD look more real to you than fake?

That's fair enough, I never actually said one way or another it was a genuine kd, the thread was what if he had knocked out jack and what would happen. Like asking what if Douglas didn't get up from tyson. That s all. But see your point and if I offended any fans of Jack, of which I am myself, I apologise.

Now I've looked at it a few times. His feet did look to be leaving the floor before I admit. I m going to say now in all honesty I got it wrong. I'm a big enough man to do that.

It's all good Fergy, and you're a solid member of this forum. Nobody really knows anyways, we were in Jack's head at the time, it just really seems that way to me at least. Anyways, no wrong or right anyways, and you're good bud

So, in other words, you think this was a pre-arranged event?

Ketchel was marked up, and Johnson also had a visible lump on his head.

    Just play fighting you say?
