CS will become on March 10 the first female boxer to headline a show on a Showtime . She plans to be first women ranked in boxing top 10 pound for pound list. Can she lead a revival of women boxing as its pretty big in certain countries but hasn't being a big factor in the major market USA since Christy Martin and Laila Ali. UK are starting to look into female boxing with Katie Taylor who has a large following and also just announced that Nicola Adams will be turning pro also
I wouldnt even see this as a revival. I think this will be a whole new era and break out for womens boxing. The difference with this new generation of Taylor,Adams, Shields is that these are ACTUAL boxers. They've been brought through a system from a young age and are well schooled,technical boxers, the likes of which womens boxing hasnt seen before. Taylor is as technically proficient as pretty much any male boxer, the only difference really being the physical side(obviously). For years, women boxers have basically been women who took a boxercise class in college and realised that they liked boxing. This new breed is a completely different species
a "revival"? what will be revived? female prize fighters are at their best when their performance eclipses their gender; when the fight makes me see them as fighters first, rather than women
Thanks Lim never really thought of it that way. Haven't really followed women boxing but they seem to train very hard and are dedicated and are respectful of the sport. It brings new fans to boxing and attracts mainstream media attention which is great for boxing.

The women coming through now and far closer trechnically than ever before. Physicaly they'll always be noticably behind. Theres not much that can be done about that. They wont be as explosive or strong. But technique, ring IQ, those can be similiar.
I agree. We will never see a female have a workrate like Antonio Margarito. Or be as fast as Roy Jones. Or be super tough or strong. But they can have very good skill.
No. I personally find women combat sports distasteful and I laugh when people talk about the skill level of women. I have never sparred against a woman in the ring but I have sparred against plenty of women black belts in karate and, quite frankly, I had to hold back to not hurt them. Women may be skilled relative to one another but with respect to men, there is no comparison. I look at women boxing the same way I look at mma, a kind of freak show. No way this stuff crosses over to the mainstream.
That's because you probably had a lot more strength and toughness than they did. But they can still have lots of skill. I'm pretty sure Roberto Duran would have gotten totally destroyed by Charles Martin too.
