Dumb, dumber and just plain stooooopit. What a bunch of tripe the sad thing shamuss thinks he is making these huge revelations. See shamuss you should get your head outa your thesaurus/dictionary, you really dont know what you're saying. About those "two punches", thats for your bestest friend, who still doesnt see them and the impact they had. Nothing more, but since you dont have an article to tell you this, you are lost. I feel for you my friend cos you seem not to have a clue like somebody we know. Your choice of words does not reflect your intellect it reflects your trying to be something you are not, sad.
Now this is more your level,"Just sayin'", stick with this is my advice.

You're not the sharpest knife in the drawer are you?
The contrast in the photos in my hall, is the young Louis against the old version.
When I asked you what was Louis's best punch you fudged your reply,I know it and you know it.
It was his celebrated right cross, and that's why there is a f*cking great 2 ton statue of his right hand in Detroit and not his left !
Louis owed the IRS over $1000,000 the yearly fees were over $100,000 , how would anybody make a dip in that ocean? You're talking like an imbecile!
As some one who was a regular attendee at the fights for over 20 years ,I can tell you Mr You Tube that you can often see a different fight to that shown on a screen.I know this because I used to tape them and re-watch them the next day. These men saw Louis from his beginnings against the likes of Jack Kraken till his sad decline and finish against Marciano, yet you say you know better than them!
THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO INTERPRET YOUR STATEMENT!
I say I doubt you've seen half a dozen fights live in your life! And that's another question you ducked!

Louis being made a slight favourite was sentiment.Just as Jeffries being made favourite over Johnson.

Marciano is not staggered/wobbled, or in any distress from those shots, he comes back immediately with his own left hook, you are clutching at straws and I'm not the only one saying that here.
You hero worship Marciano, the idea that Louis' power was diminished you see as a disparagement of Rocky and so you can't allow that to be possible,in spite of every leading boxing writer ,his own manager, and trainer , and his former manager telling you that was the case.

Those were definitely hard shots, as they forced Marciano to momentarily buckle. His body swayed and rotated with the trajectory of the punches.

No, I just know that a guy as good as Louis doesn't suddenly vanish in ability, especially after a solid winning streak against contenders.

Don't worry. Nobody truly cares that you just said you've watched this fight for decades and then got proven wrong. You don't have to take it out on me.

No, but the difference was negligible.
More importantly he lost his speed and reflexes and athleticism and therefor wasn't able to land his power punches as much. Thus the reliance on the jab, that was strong enough to damage his opponents.

It's pretty clear that those two shots had power in them, if you can't see a reaction from Marciano in that clip what can I say.

The thing is, if people didn't KNOW that was "a 37-year-old Joe Louis" (and all the baggage that comes with that), they'd probably all admit that the big guy looks like a pretty decent heavyweight in those 1951 fights.

I wasn't buying into the overall debate, just saying what i thought of that right hand and it's effect or non effect in isolation.

You're not the sharpest knife in the drawer are you?
You've been arguing with me for how many posts, that should tell you something, but knowing you it wont.

The contrast in the photos in my hall, is the young Louis against the old version.

I am sorry but this is a boxing forum, not about contrasting old and new, and really wgaf, do you think I do? Please. You know it and I know it you are being stubborn and disingenuous, we were talking about the pic you posted not your contrasting BS. And you say I am not the sharpest tool in the drawer, sigh!

When I asked you what was Louis's best punch you fudged your reply,I know it and you know it.

Only in your mind, let me explain something, that should be obvious to you who practiced for 20yrs, I will explain it so maybe you will understand.

1-Most right handed fighters their rear hand will be the the right and that would be their power hand. Ya see you are trying to make a point out of something that is obvious. But the one minor fact that leaves you scratching your head is Louis had two guns going into a fight, dont take my word for it, go to the visual evidence Louis could always knock out his opponents with both hands, always cos he was taught by a great trainer

2-Another example Southpaws the same thing their rear hand was their power punch.

3-To name just two, who were primarily right hand punchers. Firpo, and Johansson, they primarily threw right hands. Their left hands were useless not so with Louis, he knew and used both hands. Even Marciano was known for his right hand but because he had a good trainer just like Louis, he learned how to punch with his left also. This really is basic stuff.

4-Louis was always a two handed puncher, he was taught that way. Blackburn didnt make no one handed fighters.

It was his celebrated right cross, and that's why there is a f*cking great statue of his right hand in Detroit and not his left !

Of the dumbest statements made this is the dumbest yet, you are basing your reply based on a statue, too, too funny. Visual evidence says different it was one of the punches he used, Louis was a combination puncher he had many ko's and kd's with his hook. And there is plenty of evidence that shows that.

Louis owed the IRS over $1000,000 the yearly fees were over $100,000 , how would anybody make a dip in that ocean? You're talking like an imbecile!

Please explain how this relates to this thread? But I will try to explain to you, he at least tried to make a dip in that ocean, unlike you who keeps his money offshore.

As some one who was a regular attendee at the fights for over 20 years ,I can tell you Mr You Tube that you can often see a different fight to that shown on a screen. I know this because I used to tape them and re-watch them the next day.

I want you to show you how easy it is to reply to this, the same can be said of watching a tape the day, week or yr later that you might have missed from "ringside" or in the nosebleed section. Also at home you can fast forward, rewind, slo mo, and stop action.

These men saw Louis from his beginnings against the likes of Jack Kraken till his sad decline and finish against Marciano, yet you say you know better than them!

THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO INTERPRET YOUR STATEMENT!

Yes there is if you put an open mind to it. Scribes make mistakes, write things that people may not agree with. I didnt say I knew more than them I am saying what they write should be taken with a grain of salt, like in the Grantland Rice quote, Louis lost his power 3-4 yrs previous. Let's say he made a mistake. Unlike you apparently, I can disagee with his premise, I question things. I questioned Rice's assessment and saw he had flattened JJW within that time frame. Like you watched by your own account the Louis - Marciano fight 50 times and you watched on super8 and a dvd and you missed the last 30 sec of the 1sr rd. How can that be please explain. Louis had power he just couldnt pull the trigger, especially vs the guys in his comeback. At least 4 out of the 8 fought on their back foot, you know what that means right they were kind of safety first guys, that counts for 4 out of the eight, now two fights vs Brion, he became Godoy jr. and had never been ko'd, so that makes it 6 out of the 8.
out of the last two, walker was coming off a draw with a ranked Rex Layne just 4 months previous to fighting Louis, that leaves just one more the tough very durable Beshore, who had traveled 14 rds before he was stopped but not knocked down by a very good 29yr yr old Charles. Louis busted him up and stopped him in 10 rds less then a 29yr old Charles.
At least one opponent in this 8 fight run had fought and won over a guy who was the British, commonwealth and European HW champion which covered a big chunk of the world at the time, the British board decreed the fight between Woodcock and Savold was for the vacant HW crown. As you can see Louis fought him and he was ranked by ring magazine as #2 in the world.

    The 1950 Ring annual rankings
    Ezzard Charles
    , Champion
    1. Joe Louis
    2. Lee Savold
Give the man his due no matter what you can dig up and nitpick on boxrec and articles, before and after they fought Louis he didnt fight no stumble bums

I say I doubt you've seen half a dozen fights live in your life! And that's another question you ducked!

You love that word dont you, "duck", maybe you should go back and re-read things you might have missed.
I believe my answer was "if you only knew". You are assuming alot lol But dont let it bother you it's better you dont know.

He did not momentarily buckle he momentarily moved back to evade more shots, then came straight back with a left hook.
You're seeing what you want to see,not what is actually there.
I'm not taking anything out on you,Im giving you my honest opinion of yours!

Don't you think that's testament to Marciano's chin though, those two shots looked crisp and powerful yet didn't seriously hurt him.

You ask me a question,I answer it and you accuse me of going off track.
No where have I ever said prime Louis did not have power in both hands . What I stated categorically was his biggest punch was his right cross .Let us be clear .ARE YOU NOW DENYING THIS IS THE CASE?
Once agin you asked why his friends did not contribute to his debt?
I gave you the answer, because it was over a MILLION DOLLARS! WITH PENALTY FESS RUNNING AT $100,000 ANNUALLY! Every subsequent fight he had he had to pay additional tax on,so however noble and honest his intentions he was getting NOWHERE! I explained to you previously that because he twice defended his heavyweight title FOR FREE and because of his war work in raising morale and untold $$$$ inWar Bonds I felt the Us Government should have wiped his debt, or at least been more sympathetic to his situation. You obviously disagree!
I've told you in my last post that I used to tape the fights I went to see live, to re-watch the next day and as often as I subsequently wished, so your point is no point at all, and I had the additional benefit of having seen the live fight from ringside!

You are saying categorically that all those scribes his two managers and his trainer are wrong and that you are right!
This is supreme arrogance and just about as ignorant a post as I have seen here!
You of all people should never use the term OPEN MIND because yours is closed.
It is closed to all the opinions of the experts that actually saw Louis up close and personal.
It is closed to the opinon of those that managed him, and it is closed to the opinion of his trainer who trained him for those comeback fights!
Louis himself said he could no longer pull the trigger, God Almighty, he made enough quotes saying that!
The Walcott fight was 3 and a half years earlier! Do you actually get that!
"Had power but couldn't pull the trigger" This is the same as a gun with no bullets! When will you actually see this? Once again please don't presume to tell me about the merits of Bruce WoodCock I met the man, and have seen and am far more familiar with his abilities that you.
The BBBOC recognized the winner as Champion no on else in the f*****g world did! If you need to shore up your argument by saying Savold split a pair of fights with old Brucey and then at 36 was wiped by Louis then you're making bricks without cement!
Now Mr You Tube. I challenge you to name 6 fights you've seen live from ringside!
