Ok so from holmes becoming lineal champ right through to fury, who s the most likely to lose to a prime quarry? Spinks maybe? Douglas? Foreman? And it as to be while the fighter is the defending champion. So quarry in your eyes would have won the title that night..

Yes, I think Quarry was quite better than Botha and Maskaev (guys who beat prime Briggs and Rahman)

The 90s saw some of the weakest lineal defenses of all time.

    Douglas
    vs Holyfield
    Holyfield vs Moorer
    Moorer vs Foreman
Foreman vs any of his 4 defenses
    Briggs vs Lewis

Sub Quarry in and he has a shot at taking the lineal title from any of these guys.

Probably true. Although I can't see him taking very punches from some of those guys. Moorer was south paw with decent to better than average power and was completely outboxing George before getting tagged. Jerry didn't have the kind of power needed to turn that trick. Foreman was slow and Jerry might have outboxed him but again a solid one-two combination might have ended it abruptly. Briggs sucked and his claim to lineage was about as weak as it gets. But he would dwarfed Jerry in size and his one punch power needs to be considered.

Even the Foreman who fought Briggs was still too fast for somebody as slow as Quarry, Douglas could beat Tyson but he couldn't beat Quarry? Quarry was maybe 200 pounds in his prime so he was closer to being a heavyweight than guys like Marciano and Tunney. Yet most of you think Tunney and Marciano could beat modern sized heavyweights. Quarry is bigger and better than either of these guys. I am not talking about popularity or historically speaking. I mean who he fought who he beat. He actually fought modern sized heavyweights. Sure he lost to most of them but he fought guys who weren't 170 to 180 pounds like Marciano and Tunney did.

He did beat guys like Buster Mathis who was 6'3 230 , Mac Foster who was 6'2 215 to 220, Ron Lyle who was 6'3 220 and Earnie Shavers who wasn't really that big for a heavyweight. So Quarry could beat guys who were modern sized but only if the were really really slow, a poor boxer, or couldn't take a punch. Spinks is the only lineal champ after Holmes he could beat.

Outside of the Chuvalo moment, Quarry usually needed to be broke down by a steady assault. However, the Chuvalo moment is a terrible flub, he wasn't consistent, and another flash knockout could happen. I wouldn't pick him to beat all these guys in a gauntlet, he would mess up eventually.

Quarry vs Moorer would be a glorious brawl. I see Moorer on the losing end more often than not, perhaps dropping a close decision after being knocked out a few times.

It could happen for sure. I favor Quarry but I'm not betting the house on him.

If it's one thing Quarry was good at it, it was out boxing bigger and slower boxer/punchers like Lye and Foster. I think Briggs is a step below these guys.

Was John Ruiz ever considered the lineal champion? If so I think Quarry could beat him too.

I think Spinks would show up motivated for Quarry and even at what..36, could outbox him to a points win.

Against the 80s lineals...Holmes, Spinks, and Tyson, I don't see him having a chance.

Against 2000s....Lewis, Rahman, Wlad, and Fury...he can only beat Rahman. And likely would, I think on points. I don't think Rahman would pressure Quarry enough, too slow and passive.

The 90s just has more opportunities because you had Douglas getting into such poor shape, Evander's inconsistent health issues and passing the title to a lesser vulnerable fighter in Moorer who in turn passed it to the oldest Champ in history, and so forth...
