http://www.nytimes.com/1991/09/19/sports/boxing-notebook-so-who-is-this-tommy-virgets.html Interesting article about Tommy Morrison how he developed physically as a fighter. He went from 209 lbs 23% bodyfat to 221 lbs 6% bodyfat. Of course drugs were huge part in it.
His body fat wasn't 6%. These always make these exaggerated claims about bodyfat. 6% cent would be ridiculously lean, and not desirable for a boxer at heavyweight. Yeah, the article doesn't mention the steroids so it's not really saying much. I guess we can credit Virgets with being a 'roid supplier then, if he wants the credit for Morrison's physical development. But I wouldn't want to put that on him, perhaps he truly believed it was his diet plan.
Morrison said that Stallone taught him a lot about weight training. I do not remember the details of his routine, but, he did admit to taking steroids and said that without them he would weigh about 190
I tend to believe that Virgets was naive and trusting that Tommy wasn’t juicing to the gills behind his back while Virgets was crediting diet and workout program. He had a lot to lose if he was feeding Morrison ‘roids — he was senior athletic director at the Naval Academy, later AIBA executive director and held a lot of other high posts as his ‘day jobs.’
I always thought the key ingredient to Tommy Morrison's training was banging every broad he could get his hands on LMAO!! (In all seriousness, Morrison had an out of control addiction to women and partying, which sadly led to so many of his problems in life.)
Many many years ago Tommy was appearing at a sports memorabilia show in Kansas City. His co-star was Tonya Harding. I wondered at the time if they became "chummy" after the show. Come to think of it, was Tonya on roids too? Maybe they could have compared cycles.
