What a punk as if people are lining up to fight Stiverne, I guess Whyte is next in line for the Ortiz fight because no way I see Pulev taking it.
Stiverne is dodging Ortiz because he knows he would get waxed by Ortiz, and so is gunning for the (presumably) bigger payday in a rematch with Wilder -- who would also work Stiverne over again if that rematch is made. If Bermane Stiverne vs Luis Ortiz happens, it'll result in a highlight reel UD win for the drug-free Ortiz.
I give all fighters due respect. That aside, Stiverne is a joke to me, and I don't make it a habit of calling fighters that. Absolute joke. I've got a wide net of what I figure is appropriate, justifiable behavior for fighters and how they run their careers, but Bermane's turning himself into a laughing stock (if he hasn't already).
In Stiverne's defense, he'd be risking serious injury for about a year's pay. I'd tell him not to if I were his mom.
Stiverne will wait . Briggs fought nobodies and finds himself in postion to fight for regular WBA hw title. Fres Oquendo hasn't fought since loss to Chaguev 07/06/14 and his inactivity has been rewarded with a title fight with Briggs !!. Stiv will just wait to somebody gets injured or fails drugs test a la Lucas Browne. Briggs last title fight was in 2010 . He is now 45. Stiverne is 38.
Stiverne rejects the Ortiz final elimator fight says "I got bigger fish to fry." The WBC is a joke. This whole belt has become a farce. One big country club for Wilder and his handlers. Here we got Wlad, who fought Fury now facing Joshua. With the winner having to fight either Pulev or Ortiz to keep their belts. All fine and respectable. Doing what real heavyweights do. Over at the WBC country club we got Wilder feasting on Molina, Arreola, Duhaupas, etc and now freezing out Ortiz from a chance at the belt after Povetkin was jerked around after the Meldonium test. And now to be suspended. What a farce.
All true but the WBA regular title is not a prestigious belt. No one cares about it. The WBC meanwhile is operating like a circus without a ringmaster. At least the clown department is filled with Wilder.
Bermane Stiverne fell apart in his last few outings, I agree he's waiting to cash out. What happened to his punching power?!
