    A) Wilder did his part. The fight did not take place because POVETKIN failed a drug test. Therefore, he is entitled to his purse -- by contract and by law, Povetkin's promoter is responsible for making sure his fighter steps into the ring ready (and legally able, which he wasn't due to the test) to fight.

So they reneged on their responsibility, and thus forfeit the purse to Wilder, since he did his part.

    B) The WBC ruled no such thing.

They ruled that it was "possible" that Povetkin could have failed the test due to trace amounts from before the ban.

But they also forced Povetkin to year-round testing at his own expense -- that's NOT "cleared" -- and ALSO said he would be banned immediately if he failed any test after that time -- again, that's not "cleared," as they don't say that to people who don't already have a dirty result -- and, finally, the WBC said that if the jury ruled in the Wilder-Povetkin court case that Povetkin had, indeed, taken the drug after the Jan. 1 2016 ban date, that the WBC would consider the meldonium result as a positive PED test -- which wouldn't be the case if he were "cleared."

Sorry you don't like the facts or the results, but that's the way it is. Did you raise such a fuss when Povetkin's promoter collected a jury award when Guillermo Jones failed a drug test, causing a fight to be canceled? I didn't think so.

The irony here is that Ryabinskiy opened the door for just this kind of lawsuit, now he's on the other end of it.

Bottom line: You gettin' mad, Wilder gettin' paid.

What you said was so ****en dumb and clueless that they are debating about the severity of what you said at NASA. Your punishment if guilty is that you could be flown out on a rocket to outer space with enough food to survive with no access to the internet. You can only watch the Cartoon Network you goofy mofo...

While I do think povetkin is guilty of ped's I wonder if the decision is partly political just like if povetkin won a lawsuit in Russia with a Russian jury. But eff povetkin the cheater hopefully is done as a proven fighter.

I really don't care about the legal mumbo jumbo side of things, you earn a purse for fighting.. And the fight never happened. As far as what the courts decided, it is what is. Doesn't necessarily mean it's morally right.

As for Jones/Lebedev, pretty sure I didn't make a fuss about it - the only thing I had an issue with was the loss not being changed to a NC.

You can't even fight your own battles, Saintpat to his credit worded that post well and presented a credible argument. Something you've never done on here.

Great news. Wilder has a weak resume but he signed up to fight Povetkin in Russia and it wasn't him that got busted for PEDS

Of course he won. This isn't something that should have been decided in court though. That whole thing was stupid.

Boys and girls, let this be a lesson to you. Drugs and cheating are not cool.

From the start Povetkin was afraid of taking that Alabama Ass whupping from the USA.
He is relieved because at least now he could share that ass whupping with his slimy dirt-bag promoter.
Did the article say that the $36M countersuit was dismissed?

I'm not defending Povetkin. Neither man should receive a purse as the fight never happened. In my view anyways.
